Feeling your uterus.

Can most of you ladies feel your uterus if you push around on your belly? I'm 16 weeks and can't feel a thing. Granted, I'm a first time mom and don't know exactly what I'm looking for, but my sister and friends have said they felt theirs as early as 12 weeks. I feel my abs, or what's left of them, and some obvious extra pooch on my lower belly, but nothing too firm that could be the uterus.

I do know that I have a retroverted uterus that tilts towards my back, so maybe this is why?

I have no idea what I'm feeling down there I know it can be felt because my dr has felt it during apts but I don't know what I'm doing down there. But I'm ok with that. I just like to touch my tummy sometimes and that's enough. Sorry I couldn't really help. I bet if you ask your dr they could show you.

I am a FTM, but I can feel my ute about an inch below my belly button. It is much more firm than above it. And if I push on my stomach and move down I can feel a shelf right there. I've been able to feel it since it started moving above my pubic bone.

I've been able to feel mine since 13 weeks. It varies person to person. I also know what to feel for even with this being baby #1. At your next appt ask your doc or mid wife to show you exactly what to feel for.

I can feel mine at 15 weeks with no problem. This is my second pregnancy though and I think it makes a difference. I don't remember feeling it this early with DS.

Sometimes, I can feel it. But I can only tell it's hard and only in a few places, not all the way around. I think I've only felt it a handful of times, it depends on my position.

Yes, because I know whatim looking for.  You'll feel something with a rounded top poking out from you pelvis.  Lie flat and try, starting from your pubic bone.  it should be smooth until you feel a dip. I'm 14 w today and mine is about even with the top of my hips.

I don't feel mine at all, but I'm only 13w4d with my first, and I also have a retroverted uterus.  I'm trying to be patient ;-)

I had to ask my doctor about this one - I was driving myself crazy poking and prodding trying to find it!

Basically she told me that while I'm lying on my back, if I take my hand almost like a karate chop (perpendicular to my midline, if that makes sense) - and gently push down, working my way up from my pubic bone toward my belly button.  When I went in about 15 weeks, my uterus was about midway between the two.

I was looking for something much harder than it actually is - it's more subtle than I was expecting.  But pretty much when you can press down further into your abdomen, you're no longer on your uterus.

I hope that makes sense!  I still have trouble with it ;-)

I also have a tilted uterus and it is hard for me to feel my uterus. I am 15 weeks but still cannot feel a thing! I'm pretty sure it's because my uterus is tilted though...

I'm 14 weeks and I can feel mine.  My dr. showed me how to find it at 11 weeks.  I was retroverted, but it's righted itself now.  Sometimes it feels different shapes--more bulging at the top or at the bottom, or towards one side.

Before, when I pressed on my belly or abdomen with my muscles relaxed, I could push it pretty far inwards and it felt soft all the way through.  Now, it feels more firm beginning about a finger or two below my belly button.  I can sort of trace its roundish shape.  Down low, between my hip bones, it tends to be very noticeable.

Like someone already said, it's just firm--not hard.  Sort of like a water balloon.

When I was pregnant with DS I asked my doctor and they showed me how to feel for it. But don't worry you will have plenty to feel before long. It's been much easier to find and feel my second time around.
