More serious follow-up question to peeing post :)

A couple of days ago I posted about having issues with leaking urine.  So my issues are continuing, and are worse than I ever remember, even right after having my son, which eventually went away.  I've been sick, so lots of sneezing and coughing, but when it leaks, it isn't a little bit of urine like I remember, but I would estimate at least a couple of ounces, way too much for a panty liner. Do you think I should be concerned, like do I have weak pelvic muscles or something? I randomly do my kegels, but I am going to step it up.  I will ask my doctor at my next appointment, but does anyone else have any experience with leaking lots of urine? I really don't want to have to wear those big pads for 6 months!

Yes. Talk with your OB about seeing a urologist and having a urinoanalysis. It's a catheter that basically gets a view of what's going on outside to bladder that's how i gor my Dx of a partially 'dead' bladder. It was very insightful for me since I literally was wetting myself. You can PM me if you want more info.

Is it serious, as in health-threatening?  No.  But anything that gets in the way of your normal functioning is serious.  I agree with PP that it's most likely due to the coughing and sneezing and it will probably go away with your cold. It may, however, be a sign of a more chronic problem. You should call your OB because worsening incontinence may be a sign of a urinary tract infection.  If you have stinging or burning when you pee, have a fever, or notice blood in your urine, call today.  Otherwise, you can wait until after the holiday to call.

Might be time to see a urologist and bust out the poise pads. Kegels might help. Remember not to do them with a very full bladder or as you are urinating. It actually makes the muscles weaker.

Definitely see a urologist if you are leaking urine on the regular. As baby gets bigger he/she will push on your bladder even more and it will be very very uncomfortable. Wishing you luck!

Ask for a referral to a physical therapist who specializes in the pelvic floor.  I went to one after having DD because my pelvic floor was pretty much shot combined with a ridiculous amount of scar tissue issues.  I am no longer leaking or having scar tissue issues.  It was worth every appointment.
