Help my supply.

The last week my supply has suddenly started diminishing, but the day. I had the flu last Thursday, but kept pumping and due to dehydration I didn't pump much but LO still seemed satisfied while we nursed. Now 5 days later, I'm getting about 2 ounces after our morning nursing when I pump, I used to get 5-9 ounces. Before bed after our last nursing session I am pumping about 1-2 ounces. When he eats he seems satisfied but only nurses for about 3-5 minutes. I've introduced solids about 1.5 months ago, and he is very distracted. I got a nursing necklace and that helps.

I started 3 capusules of fenugreek 3 times per day yesterday and I'm trying to pump as much as possible to get things going. I've been eating oatmeal and drinking lots of water. Any other tips?? I really wanted to make it 1 year and I'm devastated this is happening at 5.5 months. Do you think it will come back up?

TIA Merry Christmas

if he seems satisfied when you nurse i dont think i would be too worried. even if you are pumping a smaller amount, pumping is not a good indication of your supply amount, lo can always get more than a pump can. unless he is nursing more often or really fussy acting more hungry, i think you are ok. also, around 5/6 months nursing sessions become faster because lo becomes more effective and faster at nursing.

IF your supply dropped it probably IS because of dehydration from being sick, and you could try drinking a whole thing of pedialyte which is really good for rehydrating ANYONE. nursing more is the best way to up your supply, and pumping in between should help.

try not to stress!! its not good for you, baby, or your supply!!

merry christmas!

If you are pumping 12oz after a feeding, your supply is normal, not low, and it doesn't need help. 59oz in any session is a lot and after feeding means you had a significant oversupply before. I pump 34oz when pumping to replace a feeding. I pump as much as my lo eats when I am gone.
