Can I just be a huge Debbie Downer and say that I hate Christmas because of this. Christmas, to me, is supposed to be for kids. For adults, it should be to love one another, get together for a meal, and give to those in need. If gifts are really meaningful to you or your DH, then maybe go shopping together and get what you want for each other together, and wrap them up. That way there won't be disappointment in the future. Also, set a spending limit, negotiate and stick to it.
After Christmas I'm always left with this guilty type feeling because lord knows we don't need anything. I'm grateful for what we have, don't get me wrong, but I can relate in the sense that my husband always wants some big old thing...I figure he can buy what he wants during the year.
