New Here 4 weeks preggers with endometriosis and depression

My name is Jessica. Its Christmas so Merry Christmas everyone, my hubby is stationed in Afghanistan and came home about a month ago for leave. Well we just found out that he left a little something extra behind. We are very pleased, we already have a 10 and 2 year old at home and wanted one more. I am very nervous, he wont be home till June and Im in school and alone till then. The next few months are going to be tough but Im hoping to enjoy as much as I can.

I have endometriosis, was diagnosed in June with a Lap, I am grateful to have been able to get pregnant again. Does anyone else here have it? What should I expect with this pregnancy since I didnt have it before?

I also have depression and anxiety. I have been taking Wellbutrin 300 mg a day and Klonipin 2 mg a day. I stopped since I found out, it hasnt even been a week yet and Im sort of a mess. My OB said stop immediately, my Shrink wants me to wean. Has anyone had experience with these things?

I appreciate all the support I can get.

Thanks

First off- congratulations!

I'm a fellow anxiety/depression sufferer. I'm currently not on meds- I went off of them about a year ago. Some days are still really hard, especially when anything "out of the ordinary" happens.

I'd ask your OB if there is something you can be on while you are coming off of the other meds. Technically, no psych med should be quit cold turkey, it can really mess with your head. That said- I've done it and survived, it's just much harder. Do you have a support system while your husband is away? The holidays also make things seem a lot worse- believe it or not, they are one of the top times for depression.

As far as the endo- I don't think there is anything about it that will effect pregnancy- only your ability to become pregnant, which you already have! But I could be wrong about that.

When you say "shrink" do you mean a therapist/counselor, psychiatrist or a psychologist?

If you don't have a psychiatrist, you need to get one. OBs aren't trained to treat mental illness and often aren't up-to-date with medicines. The fact that he told you to stop immediately tells me he has no idea what he's talking about. You CANNOT just stop taking drugs like Wellbutrin and Klonopin. You have to wean off of them, but you need to do it under the supervision of a trained professional. There's a possibility you will relapse and will need to go on a pregnancy safe medication.

There are plenty of options for you - you don't have to suffer with depression and anxiety just because you're pregnant. But you need to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about (not an OB or PCP).

Good luck!

I can only speak to the endo.  Pregnancy is actually good for endo- it stops the growth during your pregnancy.  It should not cause any problems for you- as PP said, it can cause trouble with getting pregnant, but you don't need to worry about that.  Good luck!

I definitely would NOT stop the meds cold turkey. Those you have to ween off of. WIth DD I was able to be med free (I too suffer from depression and anxiety) and I did absolutely fine once weened off. This pregnancy it has been HELL. I weened off 150 mg of Wellbutrin and .5 mg of Klonipin and have had HORRIBLE anxiety. I was fine the first few weeks and BOOM. Came back with a vengeance. I definitely recommend speaking with someone. There are safe options. My doctors placed me back on 150 mg of Wellbutrin last week. Hang in there.

Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers
