Lemon water ok while ttc?

Hey all, Ive tried searching but getting diff results...I know I have read something about the uterus having (I think) a natural acidic environment and that while TTC you should try to make it alkali to encourage the lil wrigglers...is that correct? If so, is hot water w lemon a good idea for me to be drinking? Any other suggestions on good food / drinks to encourage this kind of environ??

Well that's a new one.... I'm gonna say it's safe otherwise you would need to avoid anything acidic (soda, tomatoes, strawberries, etc) during TTC, but what do I know?

lil wrigglers?  You mean sperm.  I would not worry about the pH levels in your uterus.  It is ok to use lemon.

Yes, lemon water is safe. It also is known to boost kidney function and is really good for you. And yummy!

Unless you're sticking the lemons UP your vah-jay-jay, I do not think they can alter the acidity of it just by eating/drinking them.

You should be fine.

Also, you realize that acidic environment is biologically a good thing, right? It helps ensure survival of the fittest be filtering out the weakest of the "wrigglers." You really wouldn't want to alter it, and I highly doubt you could change it significantly with anything you eat or drink anyway.

You do know that your stomach and your uterus are not connected, correct?  If your theory was correct, people would be getting pregnant left and right from swallowing seminal fluid.

Crap! I've been doing it wrong this whole time!

OP, lemons are fine and aren't going to affect the "little wrigglers." And yes, I responded just so I could say little wrigglers.

Yes, you can alter the acidity of your vagina and cervical fluid through diet, but it's not necessarily as simple as just eating acidic foods vs alkaline foods. Some very acidic foods can have the opposite effect, so I wouldn't worry about your lemon water.

You don't think that diet can affect what happens in your uterus? Really? I guess people shouldn't bother swallowing pills for vaginal infections or eating yogurt for yeast infections.

Those are in your vagina, not uterus... The beneficial bacteria and anti-biotics are going to be secreted from the body in vaginal fluids and urine. They don't go through your uterus to get to your vagina.

I don't believe I said anywhere in my response that diet cannot effect the uterus.  I simply said that the uterus is not connected to the stomach in a direct fashion.

So your uterus is just its own island, unaffected by anything you consume? Um, no. People take medications and alter their diets for almost every organ in the body, and it's not because those organs are helping to digest the medications.

I didn't say it does nothing to the ute, I just said the two examples you gave are vaginal, not uterine.

I also want to question, for anyone. I thought it was the environment of the vaginal cavity/cervical secretions that were the problem for sperm, not the uterus itself?

That is my understanding and a point that I did a horrible job of getting across.  Maybe OP mistakenly mentioned uterus and not vagina?  Anyway, I do not believe that lemon water will have any bearing on fertility, however I do believe that diet can affect vaginal pH.
