First day of morning sickness

Today it started.  Given I have had everything i eat go straight through me, but today I woke up and felt horrible.  Now, I am lucky to work from home, but I do calls from 9-4.  My sickness went from 7-11.  I am also blessed that my supervisor was great when I told her how I was feeling and said that if I had to walk away for a bit that was fine.

For those of you out there, How long does this usually last for? like how many months?  My mom had toxemia when she was pregnant with me so she was throwing up all 9 months. I hope to not have that.

Also, any ideas on way to fight it?

It generally occurs in the first trimester, it can come and go.

I eat a banana first thing when I wake up, it helps. Eating saltines and drinking ginger ale is said to help, basically keeping small amounts of food in your stomach at all times helps.

I would love to eat food.  I am starving but any time it comes near me I want to throw up.  My mom keeps telling me to eat anyways and I know I should.  I never heard of Bananas before.  I will have to try that.

I have serious food aversions, bananas so far has been one of the few things  I can eat with regularity. But even then some mornings I have to choke bites down and wash it down with water. Any food that you can eat, no matter what it is, try in the morning. Except oranges, stay away from oranges. (They burn like hell coming back up).

Just keep something in your stomach if possible! When im nauseous its usually b/c my stomach is empty. Eating sounds awful but i know as soon as i do ill feel better! Try sucking on hard candy. It helps me sometimes. jolly ranchers, lemon heads, candy canes.. Hope u find something that helps you! And as far as how long it lasts, im 12 weeks and its not gone yet!

Haven't had it yet (except for five explosive minutes around midnight on Christmas) but what I know from normal nausea, eating bland crackers or potato chips, drinking flat-ish ginger ale or ginger tea, and staying still for a bit will help. An empty stomach makes for worse nausea, too.

It varies by person so there's no telling. Most feel better by 2nd tri, but last time I had it for 9 months.  Here are some things to try:

-sea bands to wear on your wrists

-eat small frequent meals

-oatmeal, dry toast, saltines, or a dozen other miracle foods people suggested to me

-if it gets bad, talk to your doc about medication

ETA:

-anything ginger

-suck on hard candy or over priced preggie pops

I woke up with awful morning sickness today. (It's the worst- but I felt nauseated for the first time this past weekend) I hope it gets better by the 2nd trimester. My hubby ran out and bought me the motion sickness/morning sickness Sea Bands (I think they're also called Psi bands)- you can get them at any pharmacy- CVS, Walgreens for about $13. I'll let you know how they work.  My in-laws are coming down today for a little post Christmas celebrating. We're telling them today- they are first time grandparents. My parents already have two on our side. I hope I can take my mind off my nausea for a little bit.
