I have the traditional one is beige- I LOVE it. Still using it frequently after 8 months. I've heard the sport version is lighter though, which might be better if you live in a warmer climate.

I have a sport. I love it but can't say it's not hot in warm weather.

Honestly, I'm not impressed with the ergo.

First off, I just moved from Hawaii a month ago to Neberska.

Typical Hawaii temperatures are in the low 80s. This was ALWAYS TOO HOT with the Ergo. I have the traditional ergo. Obviously, NE weather is more suited to the ergo in the winter.

Next, my baby hates he legs being spread apart. She's little but is six months! I think it may be better when she's older like 12 YEARS.
My backs hurts carrying her after 20 minutes. She only weighs 16lbs. And of course, she would rather faceout. I know the ergo is all the craze, but I would definitely rethink your selection.

The sport is the "light weight" one but carrying a baby anyway will be warm.
PP, if it hurts you after 20 min it's probably not being worm correctly as I've and lots of others have worn babies at a year in them for longer periods just fine.

I have the Sport, and while the fabric seems more lightweight it still gets pretty warm when you're wearing a baby. It does dry faster than the Original, though, and the straps are longer which enables my tall husband to wear it. I have used the Original quite a lot and I find both models equally comfortable for long periods.

I live in the desert and it gets HOT.  I also hike with DD wearing my Ergo Perfomance.  I chose this model specifically because the fabric seemed most breathable.

Honestly, you shoudn't be out wondering with LO if the temp is pushing much past 86...  But your child is going to be pressed up against you so guess what - you're going to get a bit warm.

As for foward facing, from what I've read the lastest info says that this is not healthy for hip development.  So I purposely avoided the Beco Gemini which does allow forward facing to avoid the temptation.  However having theirlegs spread IS a healthy position for an infant's hips, so again, I feel good about wearing my DD in an Ergo.  Also, the child sits in it rather than dangling from their crotch.

DD is now 6 months and I just had her in the Ergo today while I grocery shopped.  She could look around just fine and seemed really happy in there.

Lastly, avoid any carrier that does not have a hip belt.  You may know that this take the weight off your shoulders and back and places it on your hips.

GL!
