Moby wrap, worth it?

My mom gave me money to get a Moby wrap for Christmas. Is it worth the price? Do you use it often? Reviews??

I loved mine. That said, I used it from birth and stopped using it all the time around 5 months or so. Since your baby is almost 2 months I might get a different woven wrap that will last longer, or use it towards an Ergo or Beco.

i use it everyday in the house (when shes colicky or if i just need my hands free) and it really came in handy for christmas parties this week.  I also have an ergo that i use when i go grocery shopping or just feel i need extra support.  Honestly, i couldn't survive without my moby.  Its like being swaddled right against mommy - calms baby girl whenever she's fussy.  I watched this a few times before i used it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC8iQI50E_k

I snagged my Moby Wrap for $20 online a month or two before J arrived. I haven't used it yet, but I feel like I will like it when he is a little bit bigger :) I know a lot of people that swear by them, but I also know people who didn't care for them. I honestly probably wouldn't have bought one if it wasn't such a steal :)

I've tried mine about 5x now and think I've gotten the hang of wrapping it, but dd cries when I put her in. No one ever told me it was a ginormous piece of fabric that you have to wrap up yourself and sadly I have none of the skills required to do this! :) We usually just end up bringing our Bjorn if we want to carry her in something. I had a coworker who carried her older child on her hip with it, so I'm not giving up yet!

I would try to find one in a children's secondhand store...They aren't worth the brand new price (which is like 50 bucks I believe), but I'd pay for a used one...I bought mine brand new and have only used it maybe 5 times total and I had it before I had my baby.

My baby is only 10 days old but I've used it most days already and it's been so worth it to me already! I love having her close to me and it's awesome for around the house when I need free hands and she's fighting sleep. I love to use it when I take the dog out, especially when DH and I take him for walks at night and it's so chilly because she stays nice and warm right next to my skin (I wear a sweatshirt and jacket over it so we're both nice and toasty). This morning she was not wanting to sleep or be awake, nor was she wanting to eat or not eat, so I strapped her in it while I tidied up our bedroom, did some laundry and then blow dried my hair. Little nugget snuggled right in and slept until I took her out.

Its a lot easier for us to use when we go out. Instead of lugging around the heavy carseat and the giant stroller it attaches to. I usually tie it before we leave the house so I can just grab dd out of the car seat and put her right in when we get to where we're going. I like that it also prevents people from getting too close to her. I feel like if shes in the carseat people are always looking and getting too close.

I love mine! My daughter is fussy when she first goes in it but falls asleep really fast. If I'm going out by myself and know shell be fussy and want to be held instead of sitting in the car seat I tie it before I leave the house and throw a coat or hoodie over it so I don't have to deal with the giant piece of fabric in the store. It was a lifesaver today at target!

I had a mobs but didn't like the amount of fabric. The k'tan is similar for newborns and much easier to use.

This, exactly.  I really wanted to use it, but DD wouldn't have it.  She hates swaddling too, unfortunately, and I think it's similar in nature.  We just got an Ergo and she's a completely different baby in it.  I wish it were smaller and easier to pack up like a wrap is, but oh well.  She loves it, it's comfortable for me...so, it works.  It all just depends on the baby!

Have you looked at ring slings. I love my Maya wrap. It's similar but seems easier to use. I use mine all the time and dd loves it!

I wasn't all that crazy about the Moby.  It was a pain to put on - all the fabric dragged on the ground and picked up a bunch of dog hair.  And DS and I both got really hot.

Worth it! But only if it is on sale. The chocolate one is 25% off on Amazon.  Definitely a good buy.

I didn't care for mine. ONly used it a few times. LO had bad bad bad reflux when very small and everytime I'd put her in there the pressure from my chest would make her spit up.  It was hard for me to find the right tension.  Overall, I just didn't like it.

I love love love my moby.  I use it several times a week.  I've been wearing LO since she was 1 week old.  She falls asleep in it almost every time.  We got an Ergo for Christmas and while I'm still playing with it, right now I like my moby more.

Totally. There's are so many benefits to baby wearing on top of it being so convenient! Baby wearing yields happier babies who sleep better at night. They learn that being close to mommy is for day time, and being in the crib or wherever they sleep, is for night. I use mine constantly. My baby is teething now, and being carried in the moby seems to be the only thing that calms her.

Eh, I use mine whenever I don't want to use the stroller out somewhere, and if I need to carry R and something else. (so, I use it most days) I'd rather have something less of a pain in the ass to put on and off, and less likely to drag in the snow when I toss it into the car or a bag. So, I'd prefer a buckle-on carrier type thing. And I find it doesn't do as well as I heard at supporting the weight of my chunky girl. We'll probably go to a backpack or some other carrier once R can support her head.

tl;dr: It's a little overrated in my opinion, but I still use it a lot.

I loved mine, especially because it kept LO nice and snug.  The only problem I had is that Jax doesn't like his head being tucked into the side when I've got him facing me, so his head is always out, which means he has no head support.  So, if I'm doing chores that require a lot of up and down, I have to hold his head the whole time.

Also, it doesn't have the best back support.  I have a soft-structured carrier that I can walk a mile in no problem, but my moby I can barely go grocery shopping in without being in pain.  At this point, I usually just keep the moby in my car in case I break down and need to carry him somewhere, especially with the temps dropping right now bc the moby keeps him snug and warm.

I love mine. I think maybe 9 out of 10 of the people I personally know that have it absolutely love it. Yeah, it's a big piece of fabric, but once you get the hang of it took me twice it's not that hard.

I love my Moby.  It was definitely worth the money in my mind.  I'd say 90% of the time my daughter will fall asleep when I put her in.

Even if you don't go the Moby route, carriers, wraps, slings can definitely be helpful.  Just stay away from the ones that are deemed "crotch danglers" as those are bad for baby's hips.
