Gallbladder question

Has anyone had their gallbladder removed after having their baby? My cousin had to have hers removed after her first (he's 5 or 6 now), but I don't know why, but it was pregnancy related, but they also said it was sort of common...

If you have had yours removed, how were you feeling beforehand? The reason I'm asking is because I have been feeling pretty nauseous for the past few days. Not a huge deal I know, but I'm just wondering about the gallbladder thing now.

I had mine out after DD1, I was in a excruciating pain during the attacks. They started during my pregnancy and I had it out three weeks after my csection. I was actually in far less pain after the csection than after the gallbladder surgery.

What was the problem? Was it a thing kind of like appendicitis?

I had mine out 6 weeks after DS was born. The attacks started with bouts of vomiting after eating a fatty meal. They then progressed to severe pain between the shoulder blades along with the vomiting. It was so bad that I could hardly breathe. i had to go to the ER mulitple times to get a pain relief shot (usually morphine). They lasted about 6-8 hours and then they would pass. I was down to just being able to eat plain noodles and fruit. Even mayo on a sandwich would bother me.

The surgeon said that it's common after pregnancy because of the hormones. The surgery wasn't bad at all. It was actually a blessing to be rid of those attacks. I would rather take labor any day then a gallbladder attack ( and I went 32 hours natural then an additional 8 before a c-section was given). Hoepfully it isn't your gallbladder and the sickness goes away.

The pain was above my belly and below my chest, I thought I had gone into labor when I had the first attack. The doctors passed it off as "discomfort." After I had DD1 and I still had the pains I went to the ER and the doc said I had gas...I was taken right into surgery the next day when I was still in pain and demanded an ultrasound. (The gallstones were granulated)

I had my gallbladder out before I got pregnant. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with why my experience is so different that what others are describing.

I was actually having gall bladder attacks for weeks and had no idea what they were.  My stomach just felt off, usually after I ate.  I'm not sure how else to describe it.  It wasn't nausea, it wasn't terrible pain, it was just...off.  My DH finally made me to go the doctor and they did an ultrasound and couldn't believe I wasn't in more pain. My gall bladder was chock full of stones.  They said if I hadn't come in then, I would probably have ended up in the ER having emergency surgery.

So since then I always go to the doc, even when I think it's nothing.  Better safe than sorry!

I had my gallblader out before I got pregnant. It started out as an indigestion feeling, lots of nausea. Then after a month of that it progressed to a horrible pain that was in my back - like where my ribs are in the front, but in my back. It took a month of doctors appts with 4 different doctors and tons of tests before they decided it was my gallbladder. Apparently I had a very small polyp that the surgeon said "shouldn't bother anyone". Well, I was the exception I guess.

I hope you feel better and I would contact your doctor if you are concerned. Maybe keep track of what is triggering nausea (certain foods, etc). I would feel decent in the morning and as soon as I ate, regardless of what it was I felt sick.
