Unpopular Opinions

I see these done on other boards and it seems fun.  Here are mine:

1. I think onesies are kind of weird.  They look like little baby wife-beaters to me and I'm not sure I like them.

2. I think those holiday newsletter things people send are really annoying and AWish.  I have a friend that sends one every year and its completely gag-inducing. Ugh.

3. I don't find the belly touching that bothersome (from people that I know, obviously).

Anyone else?

I'll go.  I had a half a glass of wine last night.  My doc said as soon as I'm in 2nd tri, a glass of wine per week is fine.

So, that's what I did. Judge away.

I will take some of the judgement from you DLD...I had TWO mimosas on Christmas Eve AND Christmas!!! And mmmmmm...they were so yumm. Oh! AND I plan in doing it again on New Years!

I hold the unpopular, but well researched, opinion that a bit of wine/beer does nothing but relax mommie.

Judge that! ;-)

I agree.  I've had half a glass of wine 2-3 times a week since about 15 weeks.

I know this is UO post, but I HAD to say something about yours!

I see these done on other boards and it seems fun.  Here are mine:

1. I think onesies are kind of weird.  They look like little baby wife-beaters to me and I'm not sure I like them.  Onesies are a God-send! They keep baby warm under regular shirts (because those bellies are so big), and they are SO much easier than putting a baby in a pair of pants. I'm sure you'll grow to love them. :)

2. I think those holiday newsletter things people send are really annoying and AWish.  I have a friend that sends one every year and its completely gag-inducing. Ugh.  I COMPLETELY agree. I have never understoof these, and I feel like people are just saying, "Oh, look at how amazing our lives are." when we all know that they didn't put everything into that letter.

3. I don't find the belly touching that bothersome (from people that I know, obviously).  I can't stand it towards the end, and I really hate it from people that I'm not very close to. Then again, I'm not a touchy-feely person at all.

My UO: I really don't get why people want to find out the sex prior to 18 weeks or so. Aside of first kicks, and first hiccups in utero, there's really not that much to look forward to post-sex finding out. I especially don't understand why anyone would pay extra to find out early (except in situations where it allows both people to be present or something, like deployment situations).

In regards to 2, I agree. A few years ago I typed up a holiday letter stating the truth about our previous yr. Like how my Older brother got in trouble with the law, my younger brother started acting ghetto, my parents didnt like the guy I was dating etc. Of course, my immediate family were the only ones to get a letter. We all had a good laugh though.

And I agree with 3.

I don't like holiday letters either.

You will learn to love onesies when your LO is born.  They were a staple in our house.  I put them under EVERYTHING, it's an extra layer without the bulk.

I understand that weight gain is an important thing to monitor, but really, why the lectures and guilt trips doc? If eating an extra 2 pieces of pizza is what makes me feel a little bit better when I've got stretch marks, cellulite, wider hips, and trouble sleeping, I'm going to eat it. Let me worry about the fact that I'll give birth to a 5-10 pound child and have to work off the additional 20-30 pounds in some other way.

I have a friend that sent out one of those Christmas newsletters and bragged about having her baby and only gaining 11 lbs with this pregnancy.  She delivered at 33 weeks.  I mean, I guess she's looking on the bright side of having a preemie (although that was not mentioned in the newsletter), but that doesn't seem like anything to brag about to me.

Or it might just be that I find it really annoying when people brag about how much they did or did not gain during their pregnancy.

I could not be happier for my fabulous TTC buddy, MandaPanda518!

Baby Panda is on the way!!!

Onesies do look funny, but like PPs I put them under everything. So they kept DS warm and you never actually saw them. Smile

I too, indulge in the occasional 1/2 glass of red wine. I had one at T-giving, one at Xmas Eve, and I plan on one at my BFF's 30th bday party. I has a few with DS and he survived. Smile

I don't have a UO right now....

I don't hate newsletters, mostly just because I love getting mail, but I REALLY hate when people send out newsletters without anyone else proofreading them. I'm generally not the spelling/grammar police since I have many issues of my own in that area, but the one I just got in the mail had half of the words misspelled and the grammar was hideous.

My unpopular opinion is that you shouldn't base your baby name choice on what other people think. I obviously think there's a limit to this, like not naming your child something they will get made fun of their entire life or having a name that can't be pronounced because of weird spelling. For the most part though I'm in the camp that you should name your kid a name you like and shouldn't have to filter it through 8 million people before you decide that you still like it.

I have a one... Skinny does not equal healthy! To claim healthy one must follow the nutrition guidelines and exercise! To follow up, I think it is really irresponsible to your own health, and even more so when pregnant and when you are planning meals for your family, to not care about nutrition or be unable to read a food label.

Hx of PTL and GD, deliveries at 35 and 37 weeks. On P17 shots and modified bedrest now, a few scares but LO is hanging tough! ! Three beautiful children; 17, 13, and 9, and very excited to be pregnant with DH first child after a tough year of TTC and fertility treatments.

I don't really want a baby shower. I think it's weird to basically invite people to something that shouts "buy me stuff!".

I have a 1.5 year old and I hate onesies.  It could be because we CD but I much prefer regular shirts and I put them on her as soon as I could find them in her size.

I disagree (which I guess is the point of an u/o). Maybe because it's my 1st, but I find every passing week & minor milestone to be exciting as well as something to look forward to. :)

My U/O, my sister is planning my shower to be co-ed (like hers was), & I actually prefer it that way.

My daughter is almost two and I don't remember using them that much when she was super little and I barely used them on her ever past 6 mo. Maybe it was because of CDing?

I loved onesies when DS was little, he was born during the summer in AZ, 118+ degree weather plus an astronomical AC bill if I tried to cool off the house. Onesies were great to dress him in if we went out, but at home he spent a lot of time in just a diaper. My UO is that I think onesies look weird on older babies/kids and when they start walking around.

1. I HATE when people say we're pregnant. WE are not pregnant. There isn't a little person knocking on his nut sack. He won't be doing labor in shifts with you. He's not gonna bleed for a month afterward.

2. I don't like the breastfeeding Nazis. I plan on BFing, and I don't need 10,000 pamphlets about it. Women beat themselves up enough as it is. God forbid someone chooses formula, and then the militia is called in.

3. I don't like mommy worship. What I mean is it seems like people think being a mom is equal to sainthood. Most of the time the person chooses to be a parent, so I don't understand why it has become so glorified. Dads matter, and what about women who can't conceive? Should they join a nunnery, and darn socks? Yes being a mother is a great contribution to society (as long as you're not a psycho), but women can do other great things with their lives as well.

People who name their kids you-neek names or names that are spelled "differently" are morons. Complete and utter morons.

At the same token, I don't understand why anyone would name their kid a name from the Top 10 list.

Children's Place has 4T onesies. Since my 2 year old wore a 4T I really appreciated them. The best thing about onesies is that they help hold the diaper up and in place. When you throw pants over a diaper, they tend to pull the diaper down, I've found. I LOVE ONESIES.

My UO...I can't stand when stay at home moms complain about how hard it is.  I would give my right arm, or my left arm, or a leg to be a stay at home mom.  It may not be a piece of cake, but in my opinion it's a million times easier than being a working mom.

Disclaimer- this is my opinion and may depend of what your job is, but for me it's a million times easier to stay home!
