Q on BFing and fertility

I have a question for anyone familiar with breastfeeding and fertility.

So I'm still BFing (only 2x per day) and I know BFing can throw off your fertility either by preventing you from Oing or causing a luteal phase defect.

What I'm wondering is can you tell if it is a problem or not?

I've been charting and it shows that a temp shift (so I assume I O) and my LP is 12 days, so all signs are good...so I'm curious if can BFing still be throwing it off?

(This is only my second cycle, so I'm not worrying, but just want to know the possibilties.)

If you had a temp shift and a 12 day LP, it doesn't sound like BF is throwing anything off.

A friend of mine was still BFing 3 times a day when she got pregnant a few months ago, so sometimes it makes things wonky for people, and sometimes it doesn't.

I agree with PP, sounds like everything is fine. I've had both the issues you were mentioning when I BF more, but they resolved themselves and I did get pregnant.

I've only had my first PP period so I can't offer too much advice, but I looked at your chart and it looks like you did have your temp shift.  Have you considered using OPKs to help confirm O'ing?

When TTC #1 I used OPKs and I wasn't a fan. I only used them 1 per day and only got a positive on one out of the three cycles I used them...obviously I need to use them more than once a day, but I just found them annoying so gave up and just temp.

Can you not O, but still get the temp shift?

Anything is possible. It is extremely unlikely.
