To the OP: I don't know if you've gotten confirmation that it's against a code of conduct for employees or something like that, but keep in mind that it's not an automatic rule for all Catholic schools. The faculty/staff handbook at the Catholic school I work at says something to the extent that "what fac/staff do on their own time is their own business" and I've gotten confirmation that they don't fire for IVF. I definitely don't encourage you to out yourself if you're not sure, but just keep in mind that it's a possibility that your job may be okay.
And I'm thinking of both of you, and am very sorry that you've been put in this situation.
Thank you for this. I never signed anything saying that I would abide to the Catholic teachings, but we did have to take a "verbal vow" kinda thing that said it. Fortunately, we did it as a group, so I just didn't verbalize that part.
I'm just nervous that because of that vow I'd be held accountable and that, even if it weren't for the vow, they could just fire me for it and get away with it because they're a religious/private institution.
I hate IF.
