Provera

Started my 10 days of Provera yesterday to get a period started. Going back in two weeks to get an u/s done to see how my ovaries look to diagnose possible annovulation.

Anyone else out there have to go through this?

Intro: Newlywed of three months! DH and I want to start a family now so I'm in the beginning stages of getting my lady parts looked at to prepare for our future baby. We're having a few complications, so hopefully after my u/s my ovaries will be cyst free and my OBGYN will start me on Clomid!!

Do you temp?  If you don't temp you can't confirm whether or not you O.

ETA: I suggest reading the newbie link at the top of the forum and welcome.

I haven't taken temping seriously yet because I haven't had a period since August, which is why I'm having tests done to see if I have annovulation.

I have been on Provera in the past. It sometimes can take a few weeks to get your period after taking it. Everyone reacts differently to it.

I would suggest reading the link and start tempting to help you confirm ovulation. Also if your DR. starts you on Clomid, you need to have proper monitoring done including blood work and u/s's throughout your cycle while taking Clomid. Do not take it if your Dr. Is not following you with close monitoring.

Good luck!

Long cycles are frustrating. Temping and tracking CM can be really helpful, though, in those situations. If you had been temping, you'd already be able to confirm that you're not ovulating (or ovulating really late).

I hope you're able to get some answers and get things regulated soon. Good luck!

ETA: just wanted to echo PPs comments about the Clomid. Do NOT take it without proper testing (HSG for you and SA for your husband) and proper monitoring during your cycle.

How about gettin all the proper testing done before you worry about being monitored on a fertility drug.

How long have you been trying? One annovulatory cycle doesn't always mean there is a problem. I would strongly recommend not taking Clomid w/ your OB. If you have reoccurring annovulatory cycles or have been trying for a year you should do CD3 blood work and u/s, an HSG and your HD have a SA, and then take that information to an RE for treatment.

In the last two years I've had a total of seven periods. So it's clear that I'm not ovulating properly. I would have a 120 day cycle, 34 day cycle, 70 day cycle etc....which is why I'm having testing done. My husband and I have only begin trying this month, however, we want to find out if I'm ovulating like I'm supposed to be so that we aren't wasting time. I've had BW, pelvic exams, and other testing to check for PCOS, but my OB wants to do the provera and check my ovaries in two weeks to see what they look like. Also, I didn't know about the Clomid until she said something so I doubt she would, as a doctor, let me take something without monitoring me. Thanks for the feedback about the Provera, hopefully it helps like it did some of you!

She said she was having an u/s and "testing" done before going on Clomid. I referred her to the link which talks about testing and Clomid, temperatures, etc. I didn't feel the need to beat a dead horse but maybe that is just me.

Good Luck! I just started my 2nd round of Provera last night as well. First time I took it, it was for 10 days and I got my period in August, September and October then a one day period beginning of November and well nothing since. So this time I am taking it for 12 days. I go see my gyno January 15th to see what to do next?! Keep thinking positive thoughts. Also I would look closely on the clomid. Make sure they do the proper testing and monitoring while your on it because it can be a nasty drug! Maybe if I were you I would look into something different instead?!

Thank you for the positive post! I have been reading up about Clomid for about the last two hours and have seen a wide variety of reviews. I guess I should have clarified, my OBGYN said after my U/S if things looked good she wanted to "start me on some medication to help me get pregnant"....I only assumed she meant something like Clomid.

I'm new around here so I apologize if the way I'm wording things isn't "up to par" for those of you that have been around here for awhile. Sorry again! I've read the newbie link and found some helpful info, but I promise I'm not an idiot and don't plan on posting things like "oh no, i'm spotting and I got a BFN can I still be pregnant?". lol

Thanks again!
