fuzzylogic:I believe it's because of the machines. If they aren't cleaned properly then they can harbor bacteria. For example, pinkberry or other self-serve places.
No problem for me -- we have a local dairy store in our state that makes hard-serve frozen yogurt you can buy by the gallon!
No idea about the Splenda. I can't eat it because it makes me horribly sick to my stomach. I'll stick to real sugar in moderation.

You can get frozen yogurt by the gallon at the store and enjoy it.
Some say that artificial sweetners that contain aspartame (which Splenda does not) can cause issues for unborn babies. I don't know, but I hate the taste of diet coke and other things that use aspartame, so I don't drink it.
