I know you ladies can be brutally honest & if a bunch of strangers think the name is complete crap, then I can assure you that my family will too!
PLEASE give me your honest opinion of the name Carrigan. Our last name starts with a "K". I've loved the name Carrigan since I heard it on Casper (haha!).
Thanks a million.
Oh & if it makes any difference our daughter's name is Ada.
It sounds a little clunky to me. Would it be for a boy or girl? It sounds pretty masculine, but looks feminine.
And in all honesty-since you asked for it- Carrigan Kennedy/Carrigan King/ (just throwing "K" names out there) most names that have the same sound in the first and last name sound sort of cartoonish to me.
Thanks! I asked a co-worker & she made the "yuck" face!! hahaShe also said it reminded her of a dog's name. Scratch that one off the list :)
I really appreciate your honesty
Is this for a girl? If yes I prefer Carrington.
I can't get Nancy Kerrigan out of my head. Or the family from some old 80s drama, the Carringtons? Was that Dallas?
But, I'm automatically against it because I'm not a fan of the hard "K" sound in general. So Carrigan plus your last name would put me over the edge.
somebodysmama21:I was going to say this before even reading your post. It just makes me think of the mean lady on Casper. I don't like it.
This exactly. I don't think I could get over it and always think the baby would grow up to be a snob. Sorry.

It makes me think of Tonya Harding and the Olympics (even though it is spelled differently.)
Is this for a boy or a girl? If I were Carrigan my my sister had a pretty girl name like Ada I'd feel like I got the short end of the stick.
I'm sorry, but I hate it.
Suggestions...

ETA: I just read that you're expecting a baby girl.

LOVE. I have no associations with it. (Casper - do you mean the friendly ghost? Never seen it.) I think it's a great sibset with Ada.
Edit - wait, you mean for a girl? Noooo. Love for a boy.
I think of Nancy Kerrigan. Carrigan, spelled any way, would make me think trashy. I always think random last names sound a little trashy/hokey.
Ada is so pretty. Carrigan seems awful by comparison.

This exactly. I am not a huge nay sayer on celebrity connections but the only time I've never heard the name Carrigan before is on Nancy Kerrigan. I agree with the pp that Carrington is prettier as a first name, but I'm still not a big fan and I feel like it doesn't go very well with Ada.
