Anyone have an annoying floor plan for nursery?

Our master bedroom is upstairs, right across from my 21 month old daughter's room. The only other room in the house is in the basement (finished basement) but it's our only guest room, which is nice to have when my family visits from out of town. I'm not really sure where to put this baby! I know that we'll keep baby in our room for at least the first few months of it's life but after that point it's really up in the air. Anyone else with a similar issue?

My cousin had this issue and after the baby was a few months old, the kids stayed in the two bedrooms upstairs and they moved their master to the basement.

sorry I can't relate - but is there any way to split your master into to bed rooms and you take the biggest of the 3?

Can you move into your daughters room and let the 2 kids share the master bedroom for a while?

My original answer didnt actually relate to your problem so I edited it.

I can't (FTM) but my friend had a similar issue. She put the kids together in the big room and took the small room for her and her husband.

I have a similar situation. I have 3 bedrooms upstairs, but since we need to have a guest room (all of our family lives states away) we're going to have DD stay in our room until she's STTN and then she'll move into DS's room. I'm gonna have to move some furniture around to accommodate a crib and twin bed, but it is what it is at this point.

jeremiahz_momma03:
Can they share a room?

I think I would rather put a temporary wall up in the master and make that into two little rooms than have them share a physical room. My daughter is a SUPER light sleeper and doesn't sleep well if she can hear someone else sleeping. She slept in our room until 8 months and then we realized that she was such a crappy sleeper because us rolling over/moving was keeping her up.

Another option I just thought of is making the guest room downstairs into either a nursery or toddler room and then getting a pull out couch for the main area in the basement. I know they aren't as comfortable as a big bed but it could work.

We're losing our guest room, too, which sucks because, like yours, everyone in our family is out of state. We don't really have another option, our basement is unfinished, I'm not making my 4yo share a room with his baby sister, and my husband runs his business out of our home so the office really needs to stay an office. We'll probably end up getting one of those nicer air mattresses that has a platform and just set it up in Charlie's room when we have company.

We are losing our spare bedroom as well.  We have a spare room in the basement that was used by the previous owners as a bedroom -- there are two rooms, SS1 is in one of them.  I have been hoping SS2 would like to move down there but so far he is very happy in his bedroom.

What about putting both children in the largest bedroom while you and your H take the smaller bedroom.  Its not ideal but lots of siblings share bedrooms.
