Did you choose to opt out of the Hepatitis B vaccine at 1 month?

I'm not interested in starting a vaccine/no vaccine debate, I'm in public health and believe in vaccines, but I'm torn about this one.

If you opted out, did you also opt out of other vaccines?  Also, any resources, specifically science based, are much appreciated.

Thank you!

Generally, they will want to give baby the first Hep B shot in the hospital before checking out.  I refused it until the 1 month appointment for both of mine and will for this next one.

I do ALL vaccines and don't delay any others.

since hep b is primarily sexually transmitted and we aren't carriers, we hold off on this vax until the kids get school aged.  For the most part we do all vaxes.  Ds still hasn't had chicken pox as I'd rather he get natural immunity.  He also hasn't had polio, but will when he is older.  Lastly, he hasn't had hep A, which my pedi said was optional. Oh and he didnt get rotavirus as I didn't like the side effects and I stay home and breastfeed.

We do all vaccines but on a delayed schedule and for both DS and DD we didn't get Hep B vax in hospital or till much later since we felt risk was very low it wasn't a priority for us.

We opted out at the hospital instead giving it at an older age...DS is up to date on all vaccines...just do not see the need in our case to vaccinate for this at such an early age.

I did it once in the hospital and again at the 2 month checkup. And after the second one I wish I hadn't. Since its an STD the likelihood of getting it is slim and the vaccine wears off anyway. So by the time she would need it, the vaccine would be useless. But the main reason I would not have gotten it if I could redo it is because of the side effects. Some are pretty scary! But my baby always got REALLY grouchy for a day or two afterwards and was not feeling well at all each time. I would basically have to hold her all day long in order for her to not cry. I felt really bad for her. But I would not opt out for any of the other vaccines.

We opted out at the hospital (and again at the 1 & 2 month visits). As PP's have mentioned, it's an STD - it's pretty ridiculous to vaccinate LO if no one in your family is a carrier. I'm a SAHM and LO isn't going to day care - his risks of contracting Hep B are basically 0.

We are on a delayed vaccine schedule and will get ALL CDC vaccines (including Hep B) before he starts elementary school. We just don't feel the need to rush the lower risk ones (Hep B in particular) at this time.

ETA:

I'm not actually in the vaccines cause autism camp, however studies like this one about the Hep B in particular aren't encouraging

Neither of my kids got the HepB at the hospital, and DS still hasn't. We will talk about it next week at his 2YO appt, but will probably wait until daycare forces the issue. He is up to date on all other vaccines except the flu. Neither H nor I have ever gotten the vaccine for flu and we don't plan to give it to the kids either. We will also be sure that DD gets all the other required vaccines (besides HepB and flu) unless some type of issue were to arise.

The HepB vaccine being pushed at such a young age bothers me because I didn't get it until I was 15 (I'm 30 now) and only because I was required to get it for a job (lifeguard). I also am annoyed with the chicken pox vaccine, but allowed DS to get it - my fear was that if he didn't get the pox as a child, it's much worse/more dangerous to get as an adult, so I wanted to eliminate that chance (and H hasn't had the pox, so having it in the house could be bad...).

I opted out for the in hospital option but did get it at his 2 month only because it was already part of a combo shot he was getting. Had it been a separate shot I would have refused. It's a dumb vaccine for babies IMO unless your baby is at risk because of a family member having it. My dr. said the only reason they offer it at birth is to "get 'em while they have 'em".
