Coming Home Outfit

I have a bit of time to go, but haven't done any shopping for the baby yet.  I'm planning on doing a bi this week ad was excited to get his coming home outfit.  What is the most common things to put baby in that early?  I was thinking a one piece with footsies.  How about you all?

With my daughter I got a cute little layette. This time around I'll probably do the same and since we're team green I'll do one of each. My husband will have to run home at some point while I'm in the hospital so I'll have him wash it (depending on what sex the baby is since we're team green) and bring it back with him. Carter's has an awesome exchange policy so we'll just take the other one back and return it for a cute outfit that's boy/girl appropriate.

My husband and I looked everywhere or something unisex as we don't know what we are having.  We finally found a really cute onesie with pants, hat and socks from H&M.  We live in Canada so we also have a fleece snowsuit for baby to wear.  Good luck in your search!

DH doesn't care and I honestly never thought about it until my mom asked what I had picked.  I told her that LO would be fine in a hospital onsie.  My mom seemed bummed so I told her that she could pick out the going home outfit.  Mom bought me/LO a light pink and white dress with a white cardigan.

It's not very practical for a newborn, but we don't have an opinion and it'll make my mom very happy.  Plus, I'm sure we'll be taking several thousand pictures, so LO will have a pretty dress for that.

I live in MN, so it's cold. And snowy. We are bringing him home in a full onesie that is soft and has footies. Footsies? ...you get the point.

My husband will be taking our girls shopping for a new outfit (once we know how big LO is) and a new toy to give to their little brother. I'll be encouraging DH to pick out a 3-piece outfit (pants, onesie, and sweater/shirt).

H&M at the MOA does carry baby stuff! The baby section is all the way in the back on the right hand side. That store is really overwhelming to me so I'll probably only make one trip there to look at their baby clothes.

My godmother got an adorable stripped footsie one piece with a matching hat and sweater. Its 3 month size from baby gap. When I saw it I knew that was the going home outfit. Plus it means a lot to her since she has no kids of her own, this is kind of like her honorary grand baby!

Thanks ladies  I think that I may but him in a long sleeve onsie from cafepress.com that says "Recently Evicted" and a pair of fleece cargo pants.  I was just trying to see what the norm was.  FTM here  :)  Good luck to all of you!

h&M also has maternity.  My favorite leggings are from there!  The baby stuff is really great, soft and not too expensive!  Good luck!

I would just do a sleeper.  Putting pants or a sweater on a newborn is pretty much impossible and they look kind of weird because they are still balled up.

This.

With DS#1, I had an outfit and it was kinda stupid in my opinion.  It was just a onesie and pants but I had to put on socks and the hat...all that to drive home.

This time, I'll just use a sleeper- makes a lot more sense!  No need to dress him just to drive home.  Just something he will be comfy in.

Originally, we were just going to do footie Pajamas and a onsie underneath. I have never been big on going home outfits because all you are doing is bundling them up, putting them in a car seat, zipping up their cuddle bag, covering them with loads of blankies (Canadian here) and that's it.

With all that being said, my grandma went to the USA and found a hand made knit yellow suit (sweater, pants, hat and socks) at an art sale and made their bus wait for her while she ran back at the last minute to buy it for LO. She said she really wanted our baby to come home in it. One: I am a sucker for knit products... Anything knit and I am there... And two: family traditions/ requests are always a priority to me. If my family had an ugly brown jumper that had been passed down from generation to generation, I would have definitely brought LO home in it.... Mostly while because I don't find it all that a big a deal what LO comes home in, others in my family do. And if it makes my grandma smile, then we will take loads of pictures for her to enjoy!

Life was wonderful before you came along. Now I can't imagine how much more spectacular it will be when you come into our lives.

DH got her a custom made football jersey with his lacrosse number on it and our last name on the back. He got it large enough to swaddle her in so she can wear it when she gets older. I also took some maternity pics in the jersey :)
