Is it a contraction or just the baby moving/kicking?

I seriously can't tell.  All I know is that it hurts.  In the lowest part of my abdomen/uterus (and even lower), I keep getting these intense pains.  They are not lasting particularly long and definitely not at regular intervals.  Any ideas/information to share?

Thanks in advance.

I'm a FTM so I don't have a lot of experience in this but for me, when LO is pushing out (which she does a lot), there is intense pressure in just one part of my uterus. But when I'm having a contraction it feels like the same intense pressure but all over. But that's just been my experience so far.

I agree with this.

Also, when LO gives a hard jab or kick it passes pretty quickly and is more uncomfortable than anything.  I wouldn't call it painful, although some of those cervix jabs can be pretty uncomfortable right now!  Anyway, a lot of time contractions will start as pain down low so that could be what you're experiencing.  Just keep an eye on it.  If it turns into active labor you will know it.

all this - contractions will feel like menstrual cramps and make your belly harden up. you'll know the difference. keep track of timing them if for some reason they are labour pains then you'll be able to keep track of timing.

i've been getting some pretty bad jabs lately and they don't really hurt as much as super uncomfortable!

have you had Braxton hicks yet? labour pains are like that but painful!!

I've been experiencing the same thing for about two weeks. I asked my OB about yesterday and she said it's just the baby moving...that I'd be able to tell if it was a true contraction. Obviously it's getting crowded in there and as I'm getting closer to the big day, little things will be more and more painful! Yay! She said I know you've never gone through this before so call if I have any questions and to watch for my mucus plug and real contractions lasting about a min, close together for an hour.

GL :)
