NSR birthday party question

Sorry to post this here, but it seems like a good place to ask an etiquette question. My four year old son is invited to a birthday party at a pool. On the card it says that we have to pay for our own childs admission which is $10, and NOT to bring birthday present (she wrote all uppercase not). I assume she said no present because you have to pay for your own childs entrance, which is not common at birthday parties at all. Infact having two other children, and going to many parties I can say this is a first. I feel so strange not sending a present, and worried that other will too, and just send one. I think if that is the case my four year old will be bummed out he didn't send a gift. If people do follow it, and I am the only one who does send a gift then I am making problems for others. I guess I am over thinking things, and should just probably listen to the invite. I don't know though, what would you do?

Really, your 4-year-old will be bummed that he didn't bring a gift to give to someone else when another 4-year-old did?  I think he'll be thinking "Oh cool!  I got to go swimming!".

Listen to the invite.

I've never heard of having to pay to get into a birthday party either strange. As far as presents go, I would get a small gift and keep it in your bag and see what others do. If most people are showing up with a gift, bring it out; if not, keep it in your bag and save for the next bday.

If the invite specifically says no presents (in capitol letters no less lol) then I wouldn't bring a gift.

I totally agree with this.  I would almost guarantee at least 1/2 of the invitees will bring a present AND pay the admission fee.  It as poor etiquette for the birthday boy's mother to put that on the invite in the first place.

My 4 year old would notice that we didn't bring a gift yet others did and he would feel really bad.  Of course he'd be happy to swim...but we have a couple of friends with indoor pools so he does that all the time.

Do not bring a gift. Even f your the only one who doesn't, the parents will LIKE you for it.
