throwing a shower for sister while I am pregnant...

My mom and I are throwing a shower for my sister (this is common where we are from). I am pregnant with my second child and it is also somewhat common for our family to have showers for all babies. (my great aunts love everything baby!). My concern is that this shower is for my sister, not me (we are due 5 weeks apart) and I don't want this to turn into a double shower, it is just for her. I really don't want another shower, but knowing my aunts, they will bring gifts for my baby as well. How should we handle this? My name will only be mentioned on the invitation as HOSTING, but being I am her sister they know I will obviously be there. I am also thinking if I do receive any gifts I will just open them at home. I am not registering anywhere so if they go to the store and search my name they won't find it!

If anyone brings you a gift, I would just graciously accept it and set it to the side to open at home later.  If anyone asks you to open it there, tell them that if they want to see you open it, they can stick around once your sister's shower is over.

It seems you already have it handled. There really isn't anything you can do.

ditto pps with the suggestion of setting anything coming your way aside for later.

I threw my sister a bridal shower and was newly engaged myself. If the conversation veered in the direction of MY wedding instead of hers, I gently steered it back to her.  If they persisted, I just nicely explained that I was trying really hard to be sure that the focus was on her and her big day instead of mine but we could chat after the party if they wanted to.  Nobody seemed offended anyway.

If anyone were to bring you a gift, I would just put it aside and take it home to open.
