Endometriosis and BCP

I suffer from endometriosis and have just stopped taking my BCP.  I wouldn't say we are actively "trying" yet (though I'm sure we will be), just not doing anything to prevent a pregnancy.  I have had 2 laproscopies for the endometriosis, which is a relatively mild case.  I'm not overly concerned with it preventing a pregnancy...as my doctor tells me "the cure for endo is to get pregnant".  What I AM concerned about is the menstrual pain.  Since the BCP regulates my cycle, it helps witdies h the endo pain.  I've been on BCP so long I've forgotten what my periods were like when I wasn't on it.  I guess I'm just ranting...not looking for answers, seeing as you lacan't tell me how my body is going to react. :)

I hope your periods aren't too bad!!! I don't have any advice/experience to share, but I hope that everything goes well!

I've never been diagnosed as having endometriosis, but my mother had it and I've had many of the symptoms.  I was put on bcp 10 years ago to help with the cramps and bleeding. I was really scared that coming off of them would bring back the horrible cramps and other symptoms. I'm 7 month off of them now and so far it's been alright. I hope you don't suffer any bad symptoms. Do you mind if I ask, how you were diagnosed? I'm not sure if it is something I should ask my doctor about or pursue to see if it may effect my fertility.

It can be a scary situation, but you may not even have much pain. It's definitely a toss up.
Also, please remember that pregnancy is not necessarily a cure for endo. You won't have the symptoms during pregnancy, but they may come back after pregnancy. Some women don't have the symptoms after pregnancy, but I wouldn't count on that.
Also, to the poster above me, the only way to diagnose endo is through surgery.
