DH says I'm technically in labor :

Had to go to LD lastnight because of lightheadedness. All bloodwork came back good but when they hooked me up to the monitor they said I was having some pretty good contractions that were not far apart at all. And I am just about 3cm. They sent me home and said to watch for contractions that take my breath away and/or water breaking.

I still feel "off" and have lightheaded moments and DH says this is because I'm technically in "prelabor" haha.

Anyone else going through similar circumstances?

Your DH is right there are 3 stages ( 4  if you count the 2 hour recovery after baby and placenta are born). Unfortunately  you could be there a while. Once you hit 4 cm you are in stage 2 "active labor". My biggest advice would e to try and get plenty of fluids and eat if you feel like it and get as much rest as possible. Good Luck!

Good luck! I hope you're not stuck in that stage too long. :)

Me! I have been having consistent contractions for TWO WEEKS! These are not BH, they are full bore real contractions but they don't have any consistent pattern and they haven't moved me into active labor yet (2cm). I was the same way with DD before she was born. I am hoping for either a New Year's baby, because that sounds like an awesome way to ring in the new year, or for her to arrive on the 5th (her EDD is the 2nd).  I hope you aren't stuck with two weeks of contractions. It really messes with your mind, and your ability to sleep!

Lost but never forgotten <3 :
1st BFP 2/8/06 m/c @ 12 weeks;
2nd BFP 2/9/07 w/ Clomid; DD (Monica Caroline) born 11/16/07;
3rd BFP 3/25/11 w/ injections m/c @ 5 weeks;
4th BFP 8/3/11 w/ injections diagnosed blighted ovum;
5th BFP 1/20/12 m/c @ 9 weeks;
6th BFP 4/27/12 Praying for our rainbow

Eek! I hope that you get into active labor soon!

I have read about the stages of labor, I guess I should reread that section of my book :)  And for the others who are going through the same/similar - do you also feel "off"?  I guess it's to be expected when you're in "prelabor", but I just don't like the feeling.

Lurking, but "pre labour" or latent labour can last a long time or very short depending on the person. Definition of active labour is 4cm, but STM+ can walk around at 4cm and not be in active labour. A lot of places don't consider labour active until the contractions are strong enough to make a consistent change to the cervix.

FX you aren't in latent labour long!

This is pretty much what the nurse said.  She said they weren't as interested in the fact that I was 3cm, but moreso that I was having contractions painful enough to take my breath away and I should call when that was the case.

I am a STM but I was induced with DS, so I didn't feel any of the prelabor that I am feeling now.

OMG yes!!! I started feeling this way a couple days ago. I am seeing my doc in the morning. I felt nauseous had stronger contractions and then felt lightheaded on Friday. The baby was moving fine and I felt better after lying down so I didn't go to LD. Hoping tomorrow I have some progression and this little guy comes sooner rather than later.

Since posting I have talked to a few friends who had babies and they said that they also felt lightheaded/off and had nausea in the days/week or so before labor.  Sooner rather than later sounds good to me!
