RSVP Question

Invitations for my January 16th shower went out about two weeks ago. My hostesses are concerned that they haven't gotten any RSVPs. Out of the 25 invitations that went out, I've gotten three declines via text and Facebook. Obviously there is a "RSVP by" date but at what point should I be concerned about zero confirmations? I'm not really feeling the love right now lol.

A few things. Do you mean January 16 or 26? The 16th is a Wednesday, right? So I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people can't come. Even if it is the 16th, the standard time frame to send shower invites is 3 weeks before, so yours went out early. There's plenty of time. When is the RSVP date? After that passes, your hostess should call anybody she hasn't heard from. It'll be fine, really. Some people wait till the last minute or forget. Your hostess will track them all down, I'm sure. Just show up and have fun.

Sorry, 19th ;) The RSVP date is 1/12. They went out exactly one month before the shower date. I think she was concerned w the mail getting slow around Christmas. I guess I am just worried that nobody will come and I will end up crying in my cake lol.

Christmas JUST passed.  Now it's New Years.  Your RSVP date is the 12th.  Chill.  People have a lot going on and your shower simply isn't at the top of the list of priorities this week.

She asked a simple question. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

OP, I'm sure more RSVPs will start trickling in. Things always get lost in the shuffle over Christmas. :)

is it weird my invites went out about 2months in advance with an rsvp of a month before the shower?

Waaaay earlier than they needed to go out.

In a word...yes.  I would laugh my a$$ off if I got an invitation to a baby shower 2 months in advance.  Wedding invites should only go out 6 weeks in advance.  2 months for a shower?  That's just ridiculous.  Oh and after I got done laughing, I would promptly forget that I received the invitation.

Most people RSVP at the last minute or forget to RSVP all together. Especially with the holidays I am not surprised at all by what you said.

Hey, it's cool....we wouldn't want to be there anyway.  My friends appreciate my snark, and it's reciprocated.

OP I bet next week you get a ton of RSVPs - some people may still be out of town for the holidays or just getting back into the swing of things - I know I am.

And I agree with the joseandjessica - no need to get nasty.  It was a simple question.  If you can't respond nicely, don't respond at all...Manners 101!

I agree. Unnecessary snark. Sounds like EastCoast is the one that needs to chill.

Anyways, as far as RSVP's, don't you worry about them. Your hosts will take care of any late responses. Just relax lol. No need to think about crying in your cake... if people don't show up... More tear-free cake to enjoy =)

Not a newby here, just an oldie but goodie who was just reminded why she left...because of all the craycray women on TB! In response to OP, I'd wait until it got closer to your RSVP date to start freaking, then make some phone calls. Like others have said, with the holidays it was probably just put to the back of most folks' mind.

Im having my shower on the 19th as well. You shouldn't worry too much. Lots going on with people dealing with the Holidays. I have my RSVP date as the 5th since Im coming in from out of town. So I simply just sent out a few FB messages to people who haven't responded yet reminding them that the RSVP date is next Saturday. So I would wait until a week before your deadline and maybe email your guests and maybe disguise it by asking how their holidays went/ how their New Years is going  instead of just straight asking if they are coming or not.

Hope this helps. :)

Personally if I were a guest I'd be PO'ed if I started getting facebook or email or text messages asking me if I'm coming or not and the RSVP date hasn't even come and gone yet.  I ALWAYS RSVP but sometimes it is last minute.  I sometimes need to get a babysitter and many times don't know if I need one until a week or so before the time I need one.

Wait until the RSVP date (maybe a lot of people are like me and wait until last minute to RSVP) or maybe a lot are like many of our wedding guests and just don't RSVP so they need to be called.  It is your hostess' job to call/email/text/etc. them not you.  Obviously if they contact you instead of the person on the invite you can let the hostess know...but otherwise you just need to stay out of it and relax.

The RSVP by date is there for a reason, so I think it's unnecessary to follow up with people before that date even rolls around. Plus, I'd say the number of showers I've responded to BEFORE the RSVP date is 0. Definitely don't worry about it until the day after the deadline and even then, don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter how many people can make it.

Don't worry my sister has had one person RSVP to my shower and it was my other sister that is co hosting it. My shower is this Saturday. When I had her bridal shower in August not a single person RSVP so I'm not too worried, although it's weird and annoying

I wouldn't worry about it. Your guests still have plenty of time to RSVP. You have to keep in mind that because of the holidays, a baby shower invite would not be on the top of everyone's priority list. Plus, the invites went out way too early, so it is even possible that many of the guests have forgotten about them (I probably would too, TBH). Right now, just let your hostesses worry about it.

RSVP'ing to your baby shower is not at the forefront of everyone's list of important things to attend to right now.
Honestly, if you were a casual friend and I started getting harassed about whether or not I was going to attend and the date to RSVP hadn't even come due, I'd probably find something to be busy with that date. Sending out invites in the heat of Christmas card season was not a smart idea because it most certainly got lost in the shuffle for a lot of people and probably won't come back to their attention until they start cleaning up from the holiday craziness.

Exactly what type of response do you think yours is?  Snark free?  I'd beg to differ.
