I had them all through my last pregnancy and freaked out because my family has a history of heart disease. The doctor said that it could be stress related but it is very common in pregnancy with the extra blood flow.

I just responded a few posts down about heart palpitations.  That's what it sounds like to me.

I had heart flutters my entire first trimester! I told my doctor & he said it's from the extra blood flow- as long as there is no pain, it's normal. In terms of movement, I've heard that with a first pregnancy, it's normal to not feel movement until 20-25 weeks. I'm 16 weeks & just started feeling subtle movement (not sure if it's gas or baby). Congrats & Happy New Year! Smile

It does sound like heart palpitations.  i've been having them since the first trimester - sometimes they take my breath away.  My OB said if i started having them every day he'd have me wear a halter monitor to make sure everything's ok, but as for now he's not concerned.  It's just related to extra blood flow.  He prescribed iron (i thought i was constipated before) because my hemoglobin levels were low - he said that might help with the palpitations.  Not sure how.
