bath time blues...HELP!

my daughter is going to be a year old on the second of january...and at first...bath time was great...she laughed and loved it. but for the past 5 months or so...bath time has turned into TORTURE...and nothing i seem to do helps. we've tried the bath tub, we've tried the bath tub in the other bathroom, we've tried the sink. we've tried with toys, without...i literally DREAD giving my kiddo a bath because it turns into a huge struggle, and i end up with more water on me than on her! i dont know what to try. does anyone elses little ones do this, or is my child the only one out there who desperately wants to be a stinky girl!

It's funny how kids can be so different...my LO LOVES bath time. He would stay in there all night if I let him! Do you have a helping hand for bath time? If its a struggle, having someone there to assist you can help expedite the process.

My 2 yr old went through a phase of hating the bath. I just sponged her with a cloth and then every few days insisted she had a bath so i could wash her hair.

It turned out she was frightened of going down the plug hole, and it took weeks to get her over that fear, but that's probably not the issue with such a young baby.

have you tried showering with LO?

second the reccomendation for showers. or maybe getting in the bathtub with her?

also, we have this toy:

which is overkill for our bath lover, but may be a good distraction? it blows bubbles and plays music. (It's the vTech Musical Bubbles Octopus)

Can you try giving her a bath in  the morning or afternoon?  She might be over tired by bath time and just be miserable, or she might be associating bath with bed time and that makes her unhappy too.  Also, I would only give her a bath 2- 3 times a week at this point.  No point in torturing each other every night.  My LO likes her baths, but we are literally in and out.  I worry about her getting cold, so the whole process only takes 5 mins for us.

I agree with the posters who suggested bathing with her.  The girls hated baths for the first 3 months and finally I got in the tub with them and took a bath with them for about a week and then they were fine.  They had another spell of hating baths a month or so ago so I got in with them for 2 days and they were fine again.  We also bought one of those removable shower heads that has the handheld sprayer and that helps too.  This was we're not dumping water on there and they like the sensation of the sprayer on their back and chest.

I did baths with them, not showers, because I wanted to play in the tub and show them baths can be fun. We splashed, played with bath toys, and made a mess. I've taken a shower with one of them once and it wasn't an issue at all, but that was also when they were less squirmy.

I have showered with lo but just be careful because once you're both wet they are very slippery. I would try a bath and play.

That's what I would do. Have fun, be silly! Maybe some bubble bath would be a fun addition? Not every bath, since they can dry out skin. But I know my LO get like in a trance with the bubbles. He'll get some on his hands, and stare. Then splash them off and giggle insanely (but he's also a water baby, and would stay in the tub all day).

I also second the idea of trying a different time of day. When my little guy is over-tired, the things that usually make him roll over in laughter just make him angry.

 GL!
