Measuring small on US

I had my first ultrasound today (they told me I am 9 weeks) but the US only measured at 6 weeks. About an hour after I left the ultrasound the doctor's office called me in for an appointment today, anyone go thru this?

You most likely ovulated later that you think. Last pregnancy with DD I came in at 12 weeks and was measuring a week behind that. Turns out I ovulated a little bit later or implanted a little later than I thought. Some babies are just late bloomers and catch up later. I hope your little bean catches up right quick!

Second ultrasound revealed a blighted ovum. :-( Go back to the doctor on Monday to have everything taken care of. They said that it's not uncommon and sometimes more common in first time pregnancies (which this was my first.) Very heartbreaking, but remembering that everything happens for a reason!
