(siggy/pic warning/pg mntd) Any DOR ladies with short LP's? Is there any association?

Prior to getting my DOR diagnosis, my LP was always 9-10 days. The longest I ever got it up to was 11 days when I took B-6. I actually thought that was my fertility problem until I learned about the DOR and being a Fragile X premutation carrier (what caused my DOR).  Post-partum, I have been charting again and, once again, my LP is only about 10 days. I have heard of DOR being associated with a short follicular phase but don't see much having to do with a short LP.

As an aside, despite having every test in in the book run (it seemed), my RE never tested my 7 DPO progesterone. I insisted on being put on progesterone while undergoing ART and he humored me.

Any DOR ladies out there with short LP's?

I have a short LP and DOR. My LP is usually 10-11 days long. B6 didn't help me at all.  My RE said that a shorter cycle overall is consistent with DOR, but she didn't mention anything about the LP specifically. She said that as my DOR progresses, I will likely find that my cycle shortens more and more and that I will O earlier. Not sure this is helpful, but it is what I have been told.

ETA: I love your screen name. :) I was at the Alamo Bowl on Saturday. Hook em horns!

Thanks!  I was really glad to see the Horns pulled it together on Saturday.  Did you go to UT?  I was at UT Law from 05-08 so was there when they won the national championship. It was alot of fun.

And thanks for the info on the LP's. My RE always sort of blew me off when I would bring up the LP issue, but I'm thinking there could be a correlation.

Good luck on your FET!!!

I'd love to know if you learn anything else about a DOR/LP relationship. Nope, I didn't go to UT but I live in Austin and as you know, they are our team here. :) My husband went to OSU and got discounted seats through an OSU friend so I had to sit in the Beaver section. Oh well, I still got to go and was the spec of burnt orange in the sea of bright orange on the OSU side!

Congrats on your baby, and thanks for the well wishes!

Yes, I also have short LPs...anywhere from 8-11 days but my OB (before I started seeing an RE) put me on crinone without checking my 7dpo progesterone.  I still have yet to get that checked but still use the crinone each cycle. On natural cycles I usually start spotting around 1 or 2 dpo and the crinone will stop it so I'm pretty positive it's a low progesterone problem and I think that it is related to having poor quality eggs but I am not positive about that. I even started spotting on a gonal-f cycle this time and the crinone stopped that.

I'm DOR but don't have a short LP, sorry I'm not much help there. I have been told that O'ing early is related to the DOR, but my RE said my overall cycle will shorten but LP should stay the same. I definitely think you should get P4s done to make sure your progesterone levels are good. I hope you get some answers!

I got this response from another board/forum devoted strictly to High FSH/DOR/POF when I asked if the short LP was associated with the DOR:

"Can be. Short LP means your corpus luteum cyst is deteriorating too fast and not producing enough progesterone. This can mean that your eggs are over mature at the time of ovulation."

To add to the above - the poster from the other board told me this:

"Having high FSH can cause you to recruit follicles too early in your cycle. Sometimes this makes women ovulate early, but if your Lh is slow to respond it can cause your eggs to be "bad" at the time of ovulation." ...that, in turn, results in the corpus luteum not producing enough progesterone.

I thought this was very interesting.

I'm DOR but never had issues with LPD. My 7dpo progesterones were always good (15 unmedicated, 30+medicated). I do spot for 2 days before AF but that's mostly attributed to my endometriosis. Most my LP's are 12-13 days.

As for the shorter overall cycles- most times that's because we ovulate early. My cycles are about 24-25 days.. ovulate on cd 12, 12-13 day LP.
