STM- Anyone make it through their last pregnancy without buying maternity pants?

I recently had a $2,000 cushion saved up from my part time job and then my husband got into a car accident which drained my savings completely, plus some. I thought I had at least one pair from my last pregnancy but I must have ripped them and thrown them away. I lost weight between my last pregnancy and this one and with my severe morning sickness dropped 20lbs right away during this one and just hit my pre-preg weight. Anyone ever make it without buying jeans? I can still easily fit into my pre-preg pants now but my belt is getting a little uncomfortable.

I am a plus sized momma, so my case is a little different, but yes, I pretty much made it through without buying maternity clothes. I had 1 pair of jeans and a pair of capris. My work paints had an elastic waistband so it wasn't an issue. I also only made it to 35 weeks though. They last month may have put an end to all of that!

Have you thought about getting a belly band? I've heard they are marvelous but my mother bought me my maternity pants, and who was I to say no? :)

The bands should help keep your britches on without going full blown maternity pants.

try the belly band to stay in your regular clothes for as long as possible. Amazon has them for better prices than you can find them for in stores. I plan on using the one I got for a Christmas gift for as long as possible. I do not want to spend money on maternity clothes sooner than necessary. Some of them are pretty pricey.

If you're wanting to save money, check Goodwill.  I've bought almost all of my maternity clothes there so far.

I'm just wearing cheap yoga pants from Target with the waistband rolled down. I think they're even more comfortable than the jeans I bought. Also, I can wear them after the baby comes.

With my other pregnancies I wore my pre-baby clothes all the way through. When my belt wouldnt fit anymore I took a hair tie and tied the button together lol and the second time it was summer so towards the end when shorts didn't fit anymore with the hair tie(I got way bigger) I just wore dresses. This time aorund I didn't lose all my pregnancy weight so I needed maternity clothes. I refuse to spend anymore than 10-15$ on maternity jeans so I went to the goodwill got 4 pairs of jeans and 5 shirts and a pair of yoga pants all for 23$. Makes me never buy new clothes again lol but if you're on a tight budget I suggest you do that.

I made it until 27 weeks last time without needing maternity pants...but after that point, it was just too uncomfortable to use the Bella Band anymore. I'm already in them for comfort's sake at this point.

I was pretty thin while pregnant with DD, mostly just having the bump be the reason I needed maternity pants sometime in the mid-twenty week range. I think it's worthwhile to buy just one pair. I did it last time. I wore a lot of dresses/leggings too. You can find very reasonable prices at Old Navy, Kohls or even grab a pair at Goodwill. I can't imagine not having at least one pair though. The bump just gets too big in the end!

I am definitely needing my maternity pants already. I got some at a very good price at Old Navy. If you get their discount code, there is almost always a 20-30% discount.

Wow, I'm a FTM and I've been in maternity pants since 12-13 weeks! I don't know how I would make it through without them, even the belly band was a pain to me. And if you're going to spend $15 on a belly band, might as well get a pair of pants on sale at Kohl's or Old Navy.

You should check out your local freecycle board. I posted on mine asking for maternity clothes and got 3 bags from a woman in my town. They were all in good condition (since they're hardly worn) and I got some really cute stuff for free! You could also ask friends and family if they have anything you could borrow - I know some people save them for their next pregnancy, but if you promised to return them you might get some that way as well.

Is freecycle.org and/or craigslist good in your area? I have a ton of free or cheap maternity clothes from both of those avenues. I only bought one pair from the store, and they were on the clearance rack.

I didn't even think of these options and since I'm really close to a metro area this could be a great resource, thanks!

In my first pregnancy, I never wore maternity pants. Just keep doing what you are doing until you can't any more.

Obviously everyone's body is different and I have gained a good amount of weight, but the thought of wearing my regular jeans right now, even with a belly band, is laughable. No way in hell. My bump is huge, and I still have 14 weeks to go.

I don't think that I would be able to fit in my prepreg pants still if I hadn't lost so much weight at the beginning of the pregnancy. I was in maternity pants at this point last time around and my belly is way bigger this time. Last time my thighs also got bigger whereas that hasn't happened this time yet.

Check old navy sales whenever you can. Mom got me a pair of pants, capris, three shirts and a pair of shorts for under $50.

I only got through 12 weeks with my belly band. There was no way to cushion the zipper area which kept digging into my skin. I have three pairs of jeans (one was a Christmas present), two yoga pants (from Wal-Mart), and a pair of maternity khakis that I use throughout the week. I am really upset with the fact that major stores just don't have a maternity section anymore. Even the Old Navy store near us consolidated and moved all their stuff out to another location farther away. Kohl's had about a rack. For shirts, I got lucky. One of my contacts from high school had a bunch of maternity clothes she couldn't wear so I have a good selection of winter and summer tops. Her pants don't fit though.
