Shower at 36 weeks?

My sis booked my shower for the end of February. I will be 36 weeks by then. Is it cutting it too close? Also, we live in ny. February is always iffy with snow storms. I'm concerned. Thoughts?

36 weeks will be fine.  In terms of snow, sounds like any time leading up to your due date will be iffy with snow, so really the best thing you can do is keep your fingers crossed and suggest a backup date to your hostess.  Good luck!

I had a shower at 35 weeks and one at 37 and it was fine. Granted we didn't have snow here yet but with weather you never know so try not to worry about it.

I think it's fine. Mine was just before 36 weeks (it was on Sunday, I was 36 weeks Tuesday). DS came 2 weeks early and everything was all set up and what wasn't, we had lots of time to do it after he was born. Babies sleep A LOT :)

I had one of my showers at 36 weeks. I had E at 39 wks 1 day and was totally ready.

Snow sucks, but you can't really wait until April...

I agree with the other pps.  I had one at 36, one at 37 and one at 38.  None of my babies were early though.  If you should deliver before the shower...the guests will get to meet the little one!  It might be a good idea to purchase the carseat yourself - just in case.  Most everything else can wait since you'll come home from the hospital with a lot of stuff (blanket, onesie, lots of diapers, and even a small diaper bag.

You'll be okay. My baby shower is this Saturday and I'm already 38 weeks. I was cutting it short, but hey, I made it right on through! As for the snow storms, you'll have to choose a date that you predict will be okay for the shower. And if you have it in an indoor location, you'll be better off anyway :)

Good advice about the carseat. I just realized I better do the same because our shower is being thrown for us 3 weeks before baby's due date. Never thought about. But hey one less thing for the registry.

I had my shower at 36 weeks. I went into labor exactly 2 weeks later. Everything was fine.

Mine will be at 36.5 weeks. I figure the weather is going to blow no matter when it is and since I'm a FTM, baby will most likely take his time arriving anyhow. Having the shower at the end will be nice. I hear you go stir crazy waiting at the end. This way you'll be busy cleaning everything, putting stuff together and away and finalizing your shopping in those last slow weeks before your due date.

Tee hee. I thought the same thing. Mine is today, and I feel ready. I think it will give me things to do as I'm slowing down at work and haven't really had a chance to set up the nursery and play with baby stuff!  It's exciting!  Will make the rest of he uncomfortable stage go by quicker, I'm sure!

A friend of mine had her shower at about 36 weeks, and went into labor the morning of the shower! There wasn't even time to call us all - we arrived, and the MIL was there, but the MTB, her husband and her mom were all at the hospital!

We did a group phone call with her for a little while, and then things started progressing and she had the baby a few hours later.

We did the shower games (including an advice book), and ate cake, but did not open the gifts, of course.

However, I and a couple of other ladies stayed after with the MIL to assemble the bassinet she received from her MIL, since they were going to need it when they got home, and to organize some nursery stuff they hadn't gotten to yet.
