XP from June 2013 - Post nasal gag reflex

I'm still getting over my annual Christmas cold, but the problem I'm running into is that my post-nasal drip is triggering my gag reflex worse than ever. It's the worst in the morning, and combined with my tooth-brushing dry heaves, I don't know what to do, and the dry heaving will last for hours. It's gotten so bad some days that I've almost had to pull over in the middle of my morning commute. Does anyone else have this? How are you coping with it?

The Neti-pot.  It almost eliminates my post nasal drip and sore throat that accompanies it.

Sounds crazy, but last pregnancy I switched to a fruity toothpaste and I stopped throwing up when brushing my teeth. That won't help the drip, but might help the gagging on the toothbrush!

Neti-Pot or nasal saline rinses frequently, like 5-6 times per day until your symptoms completely resolve.  You may consider seeing your doctor for a nasal steroid spray which will also reduce your post-nasal drip.

My doctor also recommended steam, tea, or just hot water with honey. That's done really well for me, especially if a steamy shower is followed by time to slather on the lotion.
