Idk what to do!

About a month after i found out i was pregnant i absolutely fell in love with the name Liam. Nothing compares to it, and i cant get it out of my head. I can just picture my son Liam. However, SO doesn't like it. Every suggestion just sucks. My SO and i both agree on Lucas, but i feel like i'm going to be sad forever if i don't name him Liam. I may be overly obsessed with a name.... idk. Should i settle for Lucas or push for Liam?

I am mobile so I cannot see if you have a ticker showing how far along you are but, you cannot push him into a name. I say put it on the back burner and revisit it later. It may grow on him. My SO brought up a name at 14 weeks and I said absolutely not. We had no name come hospital time, we walked into the hospital with 19 names. The name he wanted was nowhere on that list. He gave me dibs on the middle name, and the name he brought up at 14 weeks is her middle name now. My favorite name I had to have pre pregnancy, changed to something else in my second Tri. My favorite name in the second Tri, changed to a name she "had to have" before I was 8mo pregnant. Well her first name I ended up getting dibs on as well, and I ended up giving her SO's top pick as the first name and SO's 14week pick as the middle name. Haha

I really feel that both parents need to love the name. If your DH does not like it don't push it. You don't want him to forever hate your sons name.

Wait till you're pushing that baby out, at that point your husband would let you name him king Liam of Asgard if you wanted. If you really want it.

Would he agree to Liam as a middle name, or does he hate it that much? I know it stinks, and my SO shot down several of my favorite names.  It took until I was about 8 months pregnant before we finally agreed. Good luck!

I would take both names to the hospital.  Like PP said, in the moment when you have this beautiful new baby boy that you labored over for hours, he may come around and let you name him whatever you want.  If not, I really like Lucas and feel it's not as popular as Liam.  In 20 more weeks, you may not even like Liam anymore.  Would SO go for William with nn Liam?

I was in this spot. I loved Declan but DH was just so so about it. I dropped it and explored other names, none that I loved as much. The day I went into labor, he just said he could not do Declan. I then suggested Nicholas, which I liked, but didn't LOOOOOVE and DH was on board with that. Now I love the name Nicholas and that is 100% what my son is (of course) and DH has come around to Declan a lot. 

You can't push him into the name, but drop it for a bit, explore some other options, and don't expect to make any true, final decisions until later on in your pregnancy.

Liam and Lucas are both great names!  But I think it's important that you both love your son's name.  So please don't push your SO for Liam.  He may begin to like it more and more as your pregnancy progresses, or you may begin to Lucas more, or you may find another name you both love.  You still have time to make your final decision.  And perhaps using one as the middle name is a good compromise?

Thank You ladies! I'll mention it a couple more times, but i have a feeling it will be Lucas. I do want him to like it too.

If i choose Lucas then Paul will be the middle name, it is my SO's middle name and i think it flows nicely.

oh wow lol. I am 19 weeks so i have another 4 months to try some out, i am trying VERY hard to be open minded.
