Very gassy baby

My lo is one month and is bf but maybe gets 3 oz of formula a day at night to fill him up. Everyday his stomach is upset and very gassy. I have been rubbing his stomach to help him pass gas and make a bm. Just wondering if you do anything else that may help. I hate seeing him in pain :(

STOP feeding him formula. He doesn't need stuffing! Just feed on demand...maybe you won't sleep as long, but that's parenting or you.  I'm sure the grassiness will decrease (and your supply will improve) when you stop with the formula. Make sure to burp him extra well in the meantime. You may want to consider gripe water or gas drops if the problem is severe.

I would stop the formula unless its something your pedi recommended.
If you continue with the formula, we give LO a little bit of water everyday, and most days it helps. She's EFF, so we give her just over an ounce throughout the day. Days the water isn't enough we give her a little gripe water, but we don't do that very often.

I wouldn't formula feed unless you have to.  The only reason I do is because my milk won't produce enough, even with pumping so we have to supplement.  You can try switching formulas if you need to... a lot of brands have a sensitive version.  Anything milk based will upset your little one's stomach so try soy based if you can.

Some people need to supplement.

OP, gripe water is your friend.

she didn't say he needed supplementing, she said she did it to "fill him up;" IMHO that's an unnecessary reason to give formula. Why would you persist in doing that if its the cause of your LO's pain?

Thank you. And when I said full him up that means I don't have enough milk so I have to give him that 2-3 oz. at that time of day I seem to run low.

my apologies; your post read like you were giving him formula to get him to sleep  longer; obviously, if you have to supplement then you need formula.
