7-8 days between BMs

DS is about 12 weeks old - for the past 4 weeks, he poops only once a week. At his 8 week appt, his pediatrician gave us some suggestions to increase the frequency. (Apparently it isn't a 'problem', but he does seem to be very gassy and more uncomfortable as it get towards 6 and 7 days without a BM. The poop is soft and regular when it comes, he just saves it up.) We're going to try some senna syrup. Just wondering if anyone has received any advice for a similar thing.

Are you BF? The doctor told us our LO could go a while (I forget the exact amount of days, but more than 7-8) without having a BM. She said it was normal for BF babies.

Totally normal for aBF baby; they get very, very efficient at using the milk and there's little waste.

I wouldn't worry as long as she doesn't seem to be constipated.  DD is EBF and use to go every 7-14 days or so (10 seemed to be the average).  When we started solids she started going a little more frequently and now it's every 3 days or so.  With BM they use virtually everything, so there's not much waste.

I wouldn't give anything. Like PPs said, for an EBF baby 7-10 days is totally normal. Enjoy it b/c when they start solids it gets more frequent again!

It it's any consolation, by friend's 9 week old just went 18 days withouta BM and he is EBF.  When I asked her about it...she said the pedi told them totally normal.
