Heart Rate Related to Sex??

Hi, I am 16 wks pregnant with my first and have heard several times that a high heart rate means it's a girl. At 12 wks my baby had a heart rate of 163 bpm. What is your experince with this? Any relevance?

It's an old wives tale.

At 12 weeks the HR was 169 & I'm having a boy. My friend's baby's 12 week HR was 165...hers is a boy also.

At 11 weeks, my baby's HR was 174. It has since always been around 150, 160. I'm having a boy. There is no relation to HR and the sex.

Just like when you work out, your HB goes up. Same for your LO.  Baby was just busy moving around the time you had the HB monitered. When your LO is resting, the HB will be lower. 
Life was wonderful before you came along. Now I can't imagine how much more spectacular it will be when you come into our lives.

At 12 weeks my babys heartbeat was over 160, and at 24 weeks it was at 150, its a boy.

Mine has been high and it's a girl : the lowest it got was 135 but usually 149 to 170

It was true for DD.  Not sure for this one but hr indicates another girl.  I told DH about this OWT so at our NT Scan he asked the tech and she said in the 7 years she has been doing it, it is most definitely not accurate.  HR in babies is just like in adults.  If they are moving around a bunch and active, the HB will be higher.  If they are relaxing, it will be lower.

I would say that as a rule any pregnancy "symptoms" are not an accurate way of determining the sex. You can find out at your next u/s though :)

Ours was I think 160ish at 12w and was 140 this past week (almost 19w) and it's a girl!  Weird thing is even my doc commented it was high like it is for a girl...way to follow the old wives tales, doc!  -smh-

All the old wives tales can get quite annoy esp when everyone has something to say... Mom says girl because of high heart rate, Grandma says boy due to the way I am carrying. Thanks for all the input. I can't wait to find out at the end of the month.

Both of my boys had high heart rates as does the girl I am carrying now.

Old wive's tale...if you google, you will find all sorts of them. Lots of them even give conflicting info depending on what site you're on.
