baby bjorn? ergo?

Hi all

I received a baby bjorn at my shower. I have tried to put my son in it at least 4 times and he hates it. He is 4 weeks old.

Im wondering if he is just too young for it and I should keep trying or if I should try the Ergo?

Any thoughts? (Im not interested in the wrap thing. I want my husband to be able to use it, too)

Sorry, normally lurk until LO gets here.  I'd give the ergo a try, although for a little one you may need the insert.  I had both with DS, and found both he and I were more comfortable with the ergo.  Even DH wore the ergo.  The thing I didn't like about the Bjorn was that all the weight was on my shoulders and DS hung by his crotch.  I've also heard that the ergo is better for little ones because hanging (like in the Bjorn) is not good for their hips.

Your hubby could certainly use a wrap! If you want, you could try the sleepy or moby. I've heard good things about the k'tan.

I would try the ergo...our little guy loved it.

the k'tan is awesome but sized to you so most likely wouldn't fit your DH. I plan on getting the ergo myself so H and I can both use it for longer walks etc and I have the k'tan for myself.

I'd definitely return the bjorn. We have an ergo, a ring sling and a moby and love them all. DH doesn't usually use the moby but he does use the ring sling and ergo plenty. I found for me that the moby/wrap or ring sling was best for the first few months. DDs loved them.

The moby wrap is a godsend for those days when DS wants to be held ALL the time.  I'm convinced I'd never eat anything without it.  If you choose to get one, it really helped me when someone actually showed me how to put it on. For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get it wrapped based on the diagrams.

I second everyone's thoughts on the Moby. I absolutely love my Moby, as does my LO. We just took a trip to Ireland, and had it not been for that, I wouldn't have seen anything. But, I was alone in the wearing...which kinda sucked.

I was gifted a Bjorn, and tried it early on with LO. He also hated it. But, I tried a few weeks later and he didn't mind it. Same thing with my Moby. Maybe give it another shot? That being said, I've heard most prefer the ergo. I had both, returned both. The Moby is my go to...but when LO is bigger, we'll probably try the ergo again. Good luck!
