:::siggy warning:::
I spent NYE in the Emergency Room due to severe abdominal pain. I paged my RE and he told me to go to the local hospital. (RE is 2.5 hours away) My RE told me to have the ER page his asap because he suspected ectopic.
The ER was the worst experience EVER. I felt like no one would take me seriously. Everyone looked at me like I had a third eye when I would try to explain that I had IVF so I knew I was pregnant and I KNEW I was 5w4d. It was just awful.
My RE called me back about an hour after I checked in to the ER wanting to know why no one had paged him yet. I told him they were running a urine hcg and another beta to confirm pregnancy. He laughed and said, "I can tell them your beta will be very, very, VERY high." (He is from Guatemala, so you have to imagine the accent.) He told me he had been reviewing my case and thought the chance of ectopic was low, but he thought I might have late onset OHSS. He told me to tell the ER to order an ultrasound of my upper abdomen and my pelvic area. I was slightly amused that he thought anyone at this hopsital would listen to me.
I finally saw a doctor 4.5 hours after checking in. I explained to the doctor that I was pregnant, but had not yet had an u/s confirming a uterine pregnancy. I told him I was 5w4d. He asked how I knew how far along I was if I hadn't had an u/s. I said, "I had in vitro." He replied, "In vitro.....fertilization?!?!" Me - "Yes" Dr - "So they put an egg back 5w4d ago?" Me -
"No. I had my egg retrieval 5w4d ago. That was the point at which my eggs were fertilized." Then when he was examining my abdomen he asked if I knew which ovary they took the egg from. :::major side eye:::
Thank goodness the ultrasound tech knew what she was doing! I was dx by the ER doc with a normal uterine pregnancy. Then told to take percocet for pain. WTH?
I saw my RE today. He confirmed his suspecisions and I do have mild OHSS. Everything looks good with the pregnancy. I have one yolk sac. Too early for a heart beat, but I go back on the 14th.
Sorry this got so long...
