DH and I are both teachers, so picking out our son's name has been very difficult (as we can both associate positive and negative feelings towards over 1000 different names).

We think we've settled on Tyler Hunter H...(last name). Tyler has NO meaning whatsoever - just a name we could FINALLY agree on. Hunter was my Gama's maiden name (I was taking care of her for the past 2 years while she battled lung cancer - she passed in October), and our last name starts with H.

I like Tyler H(last name), but I don't know if I like the flow of Tyler Hunter - too many 'er' sounds I think. But in all honesty, how often are you spitting out your kid's whole name?!?

I think Tyler Hunter is nice and you aren't going to say just Tyler Hunter in everyday conversation.  Even if you did I don't think it sounds bad at all.

I think it is a lot of "er," but I don't think it really matters. Like you said, you won't be saying his first and middle name together all that often. Even so, the er sound isn't horrible.

Not often.  Definitely not often enough to stop you from using a name with significance that you love.

I'm usually not a big fan of Hunter but in the MN spot I don't mind it, and in this case I really like it because of its significance.  I think Tyler Hunter is great.

And I'm sorry for the loss of your Gama.

I don't love the repeated -ers, but the mn you picked has significance, and like you said, you won't be saying them together often.  So I say go for it.
