Take LO out briefly tomorrow?

DD will be 6 days old tomorrow.  DS has his gym class in the morning and DH is going to go with him.  I was considering tagging along with the baby and keeping her in her carseat or putting her in the Moby, and staying in the lobby part to watch. It's only 45 minutes.  Do you think this is harmless enough or really not a good idea?

I took LO out the day we were discharged.  I would just keep her close so strangers can't touch.

I haven't taken LO out and won't until she's 6 weeks. Maybe I wouldn't be so worried if she wasn't a preemie and it wasn't flu season...

My son is 5 days old. We were discharged yesterday. We went to Target yesterday & went to BB&B today. Tomorrow we are going to at least BRU to get some stuff we need. In short. I see no reason not to be out and about.

Thanks for the responses.  With DS, I couldn't even walk without bad pain for weeks, so it wasn't even a question! I feel great this time.

BLPL I would feel the same in your situation!

I was not shy about taking DS out shortly after birth. That being said, my DD is in gymnastics, and I didn't bring him along for the first 4 weeks.  I feel like those places are havens for germs, and even if strangers aren't touching your little one, that doesn't mean lots of sicknesses (flu etc.) cant be airborn.  In this case, I don't think the benefit is worth the risk at all.

We took LO to Rite Aid the day we were released from the hospital; she was 3 days old. Then we took her to BJ's (def a longer trip) at 9 days old. Just don't let people touch! And don't take her to people's houses that you know have been sick or around someone that has been sick!

We've been taking DD out since she was three days old. That being said, she's either been in the Moby or in her carseat in the stroller with the shield up so no one can touch her or breathe their nasty germs on her.

We took DD out to a restaurant at 6 days old. Just kept her in her car seat, went at 5pm so it wouldn't be to busy, and we asked to sit where there weren't a lot of people.

Thats how I felt this time too, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I felt I was able to do so shortly after giving birth. We started taking her about after about a week, maybe a little less. I wear her when we go to germier places like the grocery store so people keep their distance more. I still wont take her into ds's school though. He wants to show her off but I just picture elementary schools as big germ breeding grounds.

I would keep DD close to you so people dont touch or sick their face near her face. I'm only super cautious at this time because its cold and flu season.

I haven't taken my LO out yet at 7 weeks other than the Dr and Ds was completely covered. Flu was bad here a few weeks back, and now RSV is in full swing so we haven't gone out to do anything yet. People are coughing and you can get both of those illnesses airborne if they are within like 6 feet of you coughing. So def. keep them covered:)

We had to take DD to the dr two days after we came home and then to the lactation consultant at 5 days out. I don't see why you can't.

I've only taken my LO Out to the Dr. Her pediatrician said not to take her to public places for 8 weeks because the flu is really bad this year. I'm going to Target today but hubby is coming so I can leave her in the car. After 2 weeks I'm going a little stir crazy in the house

Just remember that if your baby gets a fever before 8 weeks, you have to go to the ER and they will draw blood, cath their bladder and take fluid from the spinal canal lumbar puncture and you and baby will stay in the hospital for 48 hours while baby gets antibiotics. For me, that's enough to keep me and my LO in until closer to 8 weeks.
