Is Emmeline trendy??

I have loved the name Emmeline for a long time, and it is currently at the top of our list, but now I'm worried that with the Emma, Emmy, Emily craze, Emmeline will be lumped into that same category even though its not even in the top 1000 names. What do you guys think?  Other names we like are Juliet, Eliza, Rosemary, and Laura (Eliza, Rosemary and Laura are family names, I just love Emmeline and Juliet).  I do have a soft spot for family names, hence my son Ames, but just cant decide on a favorite girl name... opinions?

Is it pronounced Emma.line or Emma.Lynn. I've seen it both ways so just curious. I like it and think it's different but not out there

I have also heard it both ways, but we would pronounce it Emma.line like caroline.

IMO yes. I have seen like 5 posts referencing it in the last few days, enough for me to notice. I think the popularity will spike if it hasn't already. Not to mention Emmeline is a mouthful and will likely get shortened to Emmy or similar, and there are LOTS of them

If this bothers you a lot, you should prob steer clear. I like Rosemary a lot and also have a soft spot for Juliet

I don't find it any more trendy than any other old lady name. If you love it, go for it. I do think the nn Emmy is potentially trendy. But again, you have to decide what is most important to you. If you truly love it, go for it.

Personally I have loved Emmeline since I read the LM Montgomery book where Anne Shirley teaches Emmeline Harris. I loved that story. Of course any Anne of Green Gables book is okay by me, and I love all of the names in those books.

I don't think so.  I consider names like Harper and Addison trendy.

I have seen it mentioned a lot, but IRL the only girl I know named this is 15 years old. I always thought it was nice.

We have both separately loved this name for so many years.

Our backstory:  DH is in the military.  During our beginning dating time, I used to watch Army Wives to learn about military life (silly I know).  I love the show and we watched several seasons together.  One of the daughters is Emmelyn.

Sadly, we bumped this name to MN status due to the popularity of Emma and Emily.  I was so upset when both names were in the 2011 top ten.

Eliza and Rosemary are very pretty options.  Rosemary Emmeline is beautiful.

It isn't around here. In fact, most people I talk to have never even heard the name before. Either way, I think it's a classic name, and I don't think it's one that will ever go out of style like some other "trendy" names.

FWIW, I have an Annalise and a Charlotte, and their names have never been shortened. I doubt Emmeline will automatically be shortened just because it's a longer name.

I have an Emmeline.  I know someone who has a kid named Emmalyn, but I've never met another Emmeline, so I'm not too worried about it becoming very popular.

It's also hard to say if your DD will be called Emma, Emme, or Emmeline.  We've ended up calling our DD Emme most of the time, but that doesn't mean that's what she'll want to go by at school or that her friends will end up calling her that, too.
