Started temping today and ?

So I wanted to start on the first of the month but couldn't find time to get to the drugstore to get my thermometer. Anyhow, I have not had my first PP period yet, but I find charting/temping fascinating and am hoping to learn more about my cycles (even though I don't have any yet) LOL. I have been charting since Dec. 20th just to record some symptoms I was having that indicate what I believe to be my hormones revving back up again. Although I am pretty sleep deprived with my LO I am hoping that my temps will be accurate enough to reveal something!

My question is this...sorry if it's answered on FF but I couldn't find it:

Usually when I wake up in the morning, I have only slept for about 2.5-3.5 hours because of my son's current night waking. Would it be better to take my temp in the MOTN, after getting a 4-4.5 hour stretch of sleep? (Before getting out of bed, of course) Or would that not really make much of a difference? Does it HAVE to be done in the morning? TIA!

I think and the other ladies can correct me if I'm wrong but it is most important to take them at the same time after a block of solid sleep (at least 3 hours). So if you can temp at the same time in the middle of the night, go for it!

The time you temp should be consistent for your chart to be the most accurate. I think a lot of people who have babies who don't STTN still manage to see thermal shifts, but if your chart is full of a ton of open circles, FF will be less likely to be able to accurately pinpoint O (as will the board).

So if your LO wakes up fairly consistently at the same time in the middle of the night, you may want to consider temping then, if you've had 4+ hours of solid sleep time.
