Almost 39 weeks and dizziness/nausea?

Anyone else have this? I was to the doctor and complained twice of being lightheaded and having dizzy moments.

One time he said I was probably dehydrated and I needed to drink until my pee is clear.

Another time he said it could be from how the baby is positioned or the demands on my body/blood flow and things not quite reaching where they need to be on time.

Today I had a major dizzy episode and feel like crap ever since. I have an appointment today but looking for some thoughts in the meantime.

Thanks!

Could the dizziness have to do with your caffine intake?  I drank coffee everyday until I was around 35 weeks.  It just made me feel off after that.

I'm 35 weeks and I've been the same way and I've been running into stuff constantly!  I have no balance or sense of my surroundings it seems like.  I usually don't notice the dizziness unless I'm laying on my back too long, and then I just assume she's blocking some blood flow to my brain.

I would make it a point to tell your doc that it's not getting better and see what they have to say.  At this point, I'm not sure what they can do for you since you're so close (YAY!!) but from my experience (my first child's birth was extremely complicated) make sure they check everything and don't let them brush it off.

Good luck with your last few days!!

I also have major anxiety so it's hard for me to relax and not worry that it's something serious, maybe an illness unrelated to the pregnancy!

I was in LD the other night because of contractions 23mins. apart and I was over 4cm dilated. I stayed all night but didn't progress so they sent me home...

I am not as far along as you but have been having the same type of episodes! I spoke to my OB yesterday and they told me it was a vasal vagal reaction. Meh. IDK about that but ok. They just said to up my water and take it easy and call if it gets worse or happens more frequently. I drink tons of water already so I know im not dehydrated but it helps if i sit down and drink some really cold water and just compose myself. Hope you feel better!

That sounds pretty typical, but being low in iron can cause the dizziness too.  Are you taking iron supplements?

Yes they also weren't very concerned when I mentioned it in the past, but today was definitely worse. It's easy for them to say to have a drink and relax! I have a 3 year old and it makes me nervous to be home with him and dizzy.

This is kind of where I am at now. FI and I have been running errands this afternoon, and I had some water this morning and felt fine, then I had a coffee. About 30 minutes after that I kind of started to feel dizzy and a little out of it. We were at Home Depot buying paint and I felt even more dizzy, almost to the point where I felt like I'd pass out.

I bought some water before we left and have been drinking that, as well as taking a rest, and I am starting to feel better. This isn't the first time this has happened to me, but my BP is always excellent when I feel like this. I'm going to either significantly lower my caffeine intake or cut it out entirely.

Interesting regarding the caffeine. I generally do not drink any caffeine or I drink decaf coffee. Lastnight DH stopped at Dunkin and I got a "decaf" tea. When we got home, I noticed it was regular! So I quickly took out the regular tea bags and put in two raspberry leaf tea bags. The regular tea had steeped the ride home. About 5 minutes or less.

Can that amount of caffeine do this?

I have an occasional iced tea so I'm wondering if past dizzy spells also have this same connection... Or if the decaf coffee could be affecting me with that small amount of caffeine that is in there...

I think that the feeling could be contributed by a handful of things, so it's hard to say what affects one person would affect you the same way. It's what I've noticed personally for me, but hopefully you can get some better answers from your doctor, especially when they check your pulse/BP.

I also have diagnosed anxiety, so even without caffeine, I can sometimes feel that way, especially if I have a lot going on that day or I'm thinking about a lot of things. (Not necessarily "bad" or "scary" things)

I'm only 35 weeks and just started getting really dizzy too.  Yesterday when I went in for the dizziness the DR told me to up my protein and take Dramamine if its really bad.  I personally don't think it's my protein.

From the above posts cutting out my daily diet coke might have to be the next step......

Good luck! And I'm glad to hear I am not alone in this!

I had this and went to the doctor and my blood pressure was realllllly low. My MW told me to drink more water and Gatorade because it would increase my blood volume. If you have no other signs of high bp it's probably low bp. The only real risk is getting so dizzy you faint so that might be why he didn't sound concerned. Drink lots of water and g2 Gatorade and get up slowly. But if you are still concerned talk to your doctor until you get an answer that you feel satisfied with.

I am also almost 39 weeks, will be on Sunday, and have been feeling the same thing for a couple days now on and off. Now I'm starting to feel the menstrual like cramps. Its just your body getting ready for the baby to arrive! I have been told, it could be a week to 2 weeks. The menstrual like cramps is your cervix thinning out. Next step would be dilation.  Good Luck!!!
