Keeping the secret...

Hi, all!  I'm new here.  I got my BFP New Year's Day... finally broke down and bought an ovulation testing kit last month and it worked like a charm!  Looks like I'm 4 weeks 3 days with a September 9 due date.  I had a miscarriage in July at probably about 6 weeks, although I had just found out I was pregnant at all and am not really totally sure how far along.

Anyway, I feel very different this time, so fingers crossed this will go better! I'm sooo excited, and I also feel exhausted and nauseous. I'm trying really hard to only tell my closest friends and immediate family for now, but it is so hard to do! I want to tell people I'm excited, and I want them to understand why I'm acting so out of it. But, having been through a miscarriage, I also want to wait awhile. How do you guys handle keeping the secret??? It is literally the only thing I can think of!

Congrats!! Hoping this is your sticky baby ! It is hard to keep it quiet.. I just keep telling my self it will be worth the wait of keeping it quiet when we can do a big reveal and no one has a clue!

For different reasons I wanted to keep it a secret until Christmas day, at least from our parents and families.  I got through it by telling three good friends who I knew would be both excited for me, and a big help emotionally should something happen.  Just make sure that whoever you do tell is well aware that they are the one your are confiding in because you trust it, and it's not public news yet, especially on Facebook.  My three friends did a great job keeping quiet.

Thanks!  I'm trying to do the same.  I'm just hoping I don't accidentally slip!  Especially at work!  My boss does know and she is super supportive and great!  But that makes it extra hard, because I'm not even in "secret" mode all the time when I'm here!  :)  At least she understands why it is SOOO hard to concentrate on work right now!!!!

JC, I bet the Christmas reveal was soooo much fun!  I do have several people who know and are being wonderful... And they definitely know we're not making this public for awhile still.  Thanks!

Sarah I am in the same boat, I had a miscarriage about 6month ago and it was very tough on me. I just found out I am pregnant... about 4 weeks, due Sept. 12th and I am so excited! but my husband wants to keep it a complete secret until our first ultra sound at 6weeks to make sure everything is going smoothly (that is when we lost our last  pregnancy) so I am find it extremely difficult to wait.And at 6 weeks we will only be telling our immediate family, friends and extended family will not find out until we are in the 2nd trimester! it is so hard all I want to do is tell everyone I am so excited!!! I also feel like this pregnancy is different, my senses of smell is very sensitive and I have been feeling very tired... much different than my miscarriage when I had no symptoms at all... Fingers crossed! for both of us!

Wow, mstalkalot!  VERY similar.  I was tired last time too, but that is the ONLY similarity for me.  And I feel MUCH more tired than last time.  My sense of smell is so sensitive this time too!  Even the air freshener my husband sprayed this morning almost made me throw up!  Fingers crossed for you too!!!!

Congratulations and best wishes for a sticky baby!

I couldn't imagine keeping the secret, but we've made it to 8 weeks and won't tell until after our u/s on Monday and then a couple more weeks until we see family (so around 11 weeks for family) then after the first tri for our close friends. It will go faster than you think and in the mean time it's kind of fun to have a secret!
