List of no no's?

Does anyone know if there is a complete list of all the things you shouldn't eat, do or be around during pregnancy? I see some things here and there but I wish I could find a list of all of it in one place so I know what I can and can't do. TIA

Funny link but the reason I ask is because when you type that into google there is not a complete list.... each site that comes up has a few things listed but not a whole list of everything.... so I am guessing there is no such thing?

A "whole list of everything" could be just that - everything!! There are really too many suggestions/recommendations for there to be a single list of everything diet, environmental, etc. to be avoided. And many things aren't for sure, some just recommended and some a no no for one doctor and not for another.  A person could drive herself nuts trying to think of 'everything'!

Your best bet would be to google specific lists, like things not to eat, makeup not to wear, etc. Or, better yet, ask your doctor/OB for their list of recommendations and go from there.

Omg. I hope I never see that list. I would probably lose my mind!

My OB said no alcohol. Otherwise if I have a specific question, I'll just google it.

This is my favorite. It's rationale, explains the reason why its a no no, and also debunks a lot of the no no myths you'll hear

Why don't you ask your doctor? Mine gave me a 4 page packet with all the information about what to eat, what not to eat, what to take, what to do for certain symptoms. I would think your doctor would be more qualified to give you this information than the internet would.

There's no conclusive list because there are very few things that everyone agrees are to be avoided during pregnancy.  I kind of have to chuckle when someone says "Well MY doctor told me x so that's what I'm doing."  Someone else's doctor could have told them the exact opposite and my guess is if person A were seeing person B's doctor, they'd follow THAT advice.  If the medical world is split on an issue, your best bet is to find out what the risks are/why some people feel the way they do and then use your rational brain to decide if you feel the same.

My doctor gave me a pamphlet about all the medications that are allowed. I often speak to my pharmacist if I have any other questions about drugs. My doctor only said avoid alcohol and tuna (mercury). That was it.

A list of everything that could be a potential "no" probably has just about everything on it. I have heard no this or no that regarding so much. Heck I think one other poster mentioned she was told by famly no bananas! I don't change my diet, but I do make an effort to avoid anything that could potentially get me sick ie. food left out too long or leftovers that are just past their prime.

This is what I most agree with. Give me a list of medications not to take (or what's okay to take), and that's all I need. If I followed everything I've heard of "it's best not to do this," "don't eat that," do this, do that, yadda yadda yadda, I'd be on bed rest slurping on applesauce and water all day, and even then, can that applesauce be organic?! Is it pasteurized!? Am I being a bad mother!?! Here's a simplified complete list, if your instincts caution you away from it, or if you start questioning the safety of it, find a forum specific to that question and get other's experience, or ask your doctor.

No alcohol, no drugs. Ask your doctor about specific medications. If you question eating something when you aren't pregnant(dyes, mercury, too much fat, whatever your hangup is) don't eat it when you are pregnant. If you are comfortable eating it when not pregnant, continue doing so.

Really people, pregnancy isn't rocket science. The human species has been successfully reproducing for thousands of years prior to doctors and lists.

wow, i'm suprised people can be so snarky on here.  someone is asking a genuine question because they thought this would be a good resource for helpful knowlegable answers.

Who's being snarky?  There is no such list.  People advised her to check with her doctor because every doctor's list is different.  What should people have done?
