Yesterday, I was up 10 pounds, and I was definitely okay with that given that I gained so much in the first 14 weeks or so, and seemed to be evening out.  Today I got on the scale and it was 13 pounds more than my prepregnancy weight!  I can't figure out the formula, except that it really is different from every person.  I guess what I am trying to tell you, and me, is that as long as you are eating healthy, taking care of yourself, and making good choices, that is all that you can control.  For the sake of the baby, it is probably best to err on the side of gaining too much than too little (as long as it is not extreme).  And remember, there is always someone out there that will gain more than you.

I have gained 13 pounds so far, then after the holidays without trying, I went back down 2 lbs. I think you are fine. If you are overweight to start with you should gain less. I gained 33 pounds with my son and I am very petite and I felt like a whale. The dr. said it was fine.

Yes - I'm 16 wks today & gained about 8-9 lbs.  Everyone's different - don't compare yourself to others - just check w/ your Dr. what's normal for you.

As long as you are not spending your entire day, every day eating nothing but junk food and no healthy stuff, then you are fine. Everyone will gain weight differently in their pregnancies. My mother gained at LEAST 80lbs with each of her 4 children (the highest was 89lbs with her 1st), and I gained 13lbs total with my last pregnancy. It really is that every body is different. Don't stress!

I've gained 20 lbs at 17 weeks.....with twins.  I am thinking I will gain about 50 this time.  I gained about 40 with both of my other pregnancies.

I think so.  OB said 5-10 lbs at 20 weeks was "ideal" but I think he was aiming low. Books all say 25-35 lbs. total. Even if you gained a full lb a week from here on out, you'd be within range.

Please don't compare yourself to other people. Some may gain more, some will gain less. As long as your Dr. isn't concerned than you are good!

I am 18 weeks and have gained 11. My midwife said that was just fine. When I was 18 weeks with DD I had already gained 22 lbs. So I'm doing a lot better than the last time! I definitely try not to compare my weight gain to others though - because some people lose and some people just gain.

Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers
