What should I consider purchasing? Opinions please!!

I'm considering purchasing something to try to help LO sleep better at night.  She has the capability of sleeping long stretches, but doesn't do it on her own.  For example, last night she slept for 5 hours 40 minutes, but she was on my chest (and we were both on the couch).  I'm happy to have those (almost) 6 hours of sleep for myself, but I don't want her to HAVE to sleep on me.

She will be 5 weeks old on Sunday, so I'm not sure if there's something I could purchase that would actually be worth the money (i.e., something I could use for longer than a few weeks).  I don't plan on moving her to the crib for awhile.

Currently, we have a beautiful Jenny Lind cradle (which I would LOVE for her to sleep in).  She naps fairly well in it (with the mattress inclined and blankets rolled around her - I think she just wants to feel snuggled), but she wakes up within 15 minutes if I try to put her in it at night.  Most of the time she sleeps in this fisher price rocker (sorry not clicky):

The problem with this is that it's a bit more inclined than I would like, and since she's swaddled at night, she can't be buckled into it.  She's starting to get a little too heavy which is making her slide down it at night.

Soooo... I'm considering purchasing one of the following: 1) fisher price rock n play, 2) leachco podster, or 3) a baby lounge or snuggle nest (all of these are items I found on babies r us website).

I know a lot of people swear by the RNP, but how long can I expect to get use out of it?  The benefit of the last two items is that I could possibly just put them inside the cradle, rather than having a whole extra piece of baby gear in the room.  What do you think?  Any other items you have found that helped LO sleep better?  I'm open to suggestions!  Thanks for reading (sorry it got so long)!

I have a RNP and it has worked well. You can use up to 25 lbs. I have the opposite problem...he sleeps fine at night and will only nap on me during day ;) Good luck!

My LO loved her RnP, and for the first 6 weeks, she pretty much slept in that exclusively, except for an occasional try in the crib. The thing I've found that helps my LO sleep the best is consistent naps during the day, and her swing (I only use it for naps during the day). So you may try that. Often said sleep begets sleep.

I do recommend if you are trying to get her to not sleep on you, the transition will be rough regardless, I would just start her in her crib (maybe with a sleeping wedge to elevate the mattress). Ive just started getting LO in her crib, and it's a rough transition (lots of non-feeding wake ups at night with me getting up to help her go back to sleep). So instead of having a rough transition to one thing and then the crib, just go to the crib.

I have the snuggle nest and my LO didn't take to it at all..plus she squirmed so much in her sniggle she would work herself halfway off it.  My sister swears by her RnP, and I swear by my swing lol.  I really agree with the PP, sleep begets sleep.  I have really stepped up my game as far as making sure C gets at least 3-4 naps a day, and last night she slept for 7 hours straight!  I try to get her to sleep after an hour of awake time and I can't tell you how this has changed things for us.

We borrowed a rock n play and its been great at night.  She'll sleep usually 4-6 hours.  She doesn't nap well in it during the day for some reason tho, I usually have to hold her.

Thanks for the replies ladies! She does nap well during the day, especially since we started making a more conscious effort to start using the EASY method last week. She's taken decent length naps, like over 2 hours, in her swing, on her belly on the ottoman right next to me, in the cradle, etc... There's just something about bedtime she doesn't want me to put her down!

B LOVES his RnP.  He sleeps like a champ in it and I am glad that he is at somewhat of an incline.

RNP is what my LO sleeps in. I do not let her nap in it, just sleep at night in it so she dosent get confused
