DS prefers my husband....

Is this happening to anyone else?  DS is 9.5 months old and has obviously started preferring my husband over me.  Whenever I'm holding him, if my husband walks in the room, he reaches out his arms to him.  Ugh.  I picked him up from daycare yesterday and he came over when he saw it was me, but then went back to playing and was trying to climb up the girl that works there while I was getting his carseat ready.  I realize he's just a baby, but it's so disheartening Sad

I used to feel that way with DD1. She was definitely Daddy's little girl. DD2 is all up in my business, and will not let me put her down for a second without crying. Not even DH can take her if I am still in the room. I hope she starts to prefer DH soon, because I'm tired. Your son loves you, he's just being a baby. Try not to take it personally. I was very close with my father, but even as a teenager, if I got sick, just hearing my mom's voice would make me turn into a 2 year old and make me start crying.

My LO does that when daddy first gets home, but after that and whenever she is upset its mommy! The other day we picked her up from my parents and I was holding her and she reached out her arms to daddy but as soon as he took her she looked back at me, started crying and held her arms out to come back. Sometimes I don't think she even knows who she wants!

Yes, totally-- I feel your pain!!

I am out of the house 7-7 m-f.  DH is a FT student so he spends MUCH more time with DD.  She LOVES her daddy.  She could take or leave me right now.

I am telling myself it will get better as she gets older.  Hang in there!

Yeah, my DS tends towards his father but I think it's because my DH has a weird work schedule and his hours differ. DS is never sure when he will be there. My schedule is more consistant and allows him to feel more comfortable.

He does something similar at DC too. It's like he knows I'm around and he knows when so he isn't to clingy with me.

Mine is 16 months now but had been all about Daddy since he was old enough to recognize us. I kept hoping he'd outgrow it.  Apparently not.  It hurt my feelings at first but now I don't let it phase me.  Plus when he's clingy and screaming, I'd much rather have him demanding DH than climbing my leg like a barnacle :)
