Migraines...HELP!!

I am 7 weeks and a day pregnant. Before I got pregnant I suffered from bad migraines. I was taking Imatrex and that really helped. I was okay for the first couple weeks of the pregnancy and now I am starting to get migraines again. Only being able to take Tylenol during the first trimester is unbearable. It does nothing for me. My mood is suffering. My work is suffering. All i want to do is lay in bed. Can anyone recommend anything for these?

I recommend you talk to your doctor because there are other meds you can take but they're prescription. I feel your pain.  Feel better!

I understand where you're coming from...I'm 7w2d, and in the same boat...I missed a day of work this week due to a migraine.  I realized that it was actually sinus pressure triggering my migraine this time, and I called my OB (even though my first appointment with them isn't until next week).  Their nurse suggested that I take sudafed, which helped immensely!  They also advised Tylenol, but I decided to skip that, since I already know that it doesn't help my migraines, but it does make me nauseous...just what I don't need at the moment!

i just did this today.  I had a nearly unbearable, long-lasting one and the combo seemed to help.

If I feel a migraine coming on, I drink a can of pop.  It usually helps, but not always.  Tylenol does nothing for me either.

I called earlier to check with the doctor and she said the same thing about sudafed. I didn't try it because I didn't think I was sick enough to take it. I will have to try it. Thanks!

My doctor told me that I have to wait until the second trimester to take prescription pills...now I'm counting down the weeks!

Unfortunately for me, I am one of the few where caffeine is a migraine trigger :(

max dose of Tylenol + can of coca cola + ice pack on your neck + dark, quiet room

Good luck!  1st tri is a really hard time without the good medicine and crazy hormones that cause flare ups.  If you can get regular neck massages by a therapist it will help curb them.

Even if caffeine is usually a trigger outside of pregnancy, it might be different during pregnancy.  It is definitely worth trying adding caffeine to the tylenol until you get some clearance for something else.  Normally tylenol is like a tic tac for my migraines but I get more relief during pregnancy when I add in a little caffeine.  Good luck!

My migraines are sometimes sinus related. Try sudafed if nothing else is working, along with cold compresses.
