OWT (nursing) not a joke either :-/

I actually had a women tell me today at work "make sure you really get those nipples rough for that baby to suck on. I used rough sponges while I was in the shower starting around 30w"  

Oh, you poor women. Why did no one tell you that does nothing to help your nipples with nursing? granted she is 89 years old but still!

I have a neighbor who said she "roughed up" her nipples during both her pregnancies and it totally helped. She said breast feeding never hurt her.  Totally weird.

Yeah I was happy to read in the nursing books when I was pregnant with my first that that wasn't a legit thing. Those who had no problems probably just had a really good latch going on!

My OB professor in nursing school said that nothing conditions a woman's nipples better than her own nursing newborn! If you rub your nipples with something rough, you can cause cuts and infections! Yikes!
